Welcome Jaylon Tyson

What's kind of weird about Tyson, aside from the rebounding is I feel like he's really going out of his way to show the things people said were weaknesses aren't weaknesses and he has a whole skill set he was known for that he's not even showing yet. He's a really hard dude to predict a ceiling for.

I do not believe Tyson should be involved in any trade scenarios. He is going to be a much better player and fit for the roster two years from now. I also think he is farther along then Okoro was as a rookie. That's said, he needs to learn more about the fine line between being physical and fouling at the NBA level. Crafty veterans will target him for ticky tack fouls. Tyson needs to mask the times he does foul while knowing when to hold off from opponent baiting fouls. I also don't see a confident three point threat yet, but few rookies come in ready the shoot in rhythm.

I feel the same way.

He is trying to play a role.. he just wants to find himself playing time right now. But he can show much more on the offensive end.

Of equal importance to your good points, we really can’t affford to be trading to the cheap cost controlled players like Tyson, CPJ, and Travers.
(Merrill and Jerome would be on taht list if they weren’t upcoming FA’s) but those three plus even Thor and Bates are essential for our roster , as Atkinson playing 10-11 guys, regardless of injuries requires the full 14-15 man roster to be playable dudes, no room for multiple Haslem/TT types

He has a weird thing in his ft where his had move laterally under the ball. If he can clean you his mechanics next summer he could have some real growth potential. With his frame he can draw some fouls

Feels like he is just getting started. Really appreciate the rebounding and defense. He should try bringing the ball up more. I really like his transition passing.

He is definitely our wing that should learn to elbow....err...body up Tatum style.

Jaylon Tyson didn't amass 100 minutes until early December and isn't in line for a big role on a deep and contending Cleveland Cavaliers team that should see Max Strus rejoin the rotation this month.
Tyson got an extended 37-minute look in a Nov. 20 dismantling of the New Orleans Pelicans, and his efforts in that game suggest he could probably be contributing more if given the chance. He scored 16 points, grabbed 11 boards and handed out seven assists while going 7-of-12 from the field in that one.

Considering he only has 30 points, 24 rebounds and 11 assists on the season, that game is clearly the outlier.

Picked 20th in part because he was viewed as a player who could help immediately, Tyson simply hasn't gotten the chance. He often looks overqualified to be in the G League, so we can't knock him too badly for happening to land on a team with too much talent to give him minutes.

Grade: C+

Yeah unknown right now. Played better with better players, but had also turned it over a lot

I was just about to say that he looks better with better players around him than he does during junk time, still think his jumpshot is a long, long way away from being reliable, still think he could be a surprise trade if you’re trying to keep the main cord together……..
