No coaching search expected this summer, so J.B. is our guy!

We can't lose with a father/son bball ops combo... right?

Wait what: assistant coaches have agreements that they will be given a certain of amount of time as the new head coach if the current head coach is fired.

That is some serious WTF contracting right there: all sorts of negative incentives there

Can still be fired regardless of what the contract states. Likely makes it so he's not a lame duck coach. Nothing can actually prevent him from being fired though. If it's in the contract he can't be fired then he got the best contract ever.

We need to give him a long term contract before we fire him so he can still be on our payroll. I am rooting for us to have a dozen different head coaches on our payroll eventually.

Many have bought into the narrative that Bickerstaff is a schmuck, and I'm just not sure where it's coming from.

He took over as the Rockets' interim HC in 2015, and led them to the playoffs.

He took over as the Grizzlies' interim HC in 2017, they ended up 22-60 on the season, and then they increased their wins by double digits in 2018-19, going 33-49.

Not saying that the guy is going to be the next Phil Jackson, but his track record is nowhere near as awful as some are making it seem.

I think they brought Bickerstaff in to be the successor or backup plan to Beilein. After the week long negotiation with Larry Drew to get him to take the HC job last year, it was probably smart they had a clause in Bickerstaffs contract if he was elevated to HC.

I think there was a good possibility that Beilein was going to either retire or leave before his contract was up because of his age.

Sure but usually there is a poison pill such as significant extra compensation if the agreed upon framework is not held up

I agree. I would just say there isn't a lot of data. He has said he wasn't prepared for the Rockets gig and it was really intense.

The grizz guy I heard talk about him said good defense, uncreative offense.

I just hope he continues to grow.

The fans didn't like how he leashed JJJ. Wasn't allowing him to take many 3s

Stotts in Portland didn’t have a good track record before the Blazers but he is doing good considering all the circumstances over the years and being in the West. Maybe it takes a couple gigs and a better situation. Here’s to hoping for the best...got no other choice
