I'm enjoying reading all the hate for JBB right now. I'll give it another season and a half before I say I told you so tho.

As in you think he’s a good coach?
As in I hated the idea of him being a coach in the Cleveland when the rumors first started. Can't stand Bernie, can't stand his son either. But I'm always willing to give at least 2 years before calls for his head.

I think it's clear he has an ability to connect to most players. I won't fault him for not handling the ego of Drummond or the headcase of KPJ. In Drummond's case, his attitude was well known. In KPJ... Leave it at that.

I think he's trash and stuck in the NBA from 10-20 years ago. I don't think he'll improve, even with a massive infusion of talent. But, I'll be patient.

But they finished 5-6 last year!

There are some positives. They put up a lot of 3's yesterday including Okoro with 11 3 pt attempts. I think I want more like 6, but that is ok.

They are moving the ball again.

Guy is a dinosaur in this modern NBA

Even though we won that was once of the worst coached games of basketball I’ve ever seen. His rotations were ludicrous

Not sure why Dotson randomly played 7 minutes when Windler was playing really well but I guess 2nd night of back to back giving some rest to players

I don't understand the JBB hate. He's had a shit hand dealt to him by injuries all season then lost his best piece for the starting 2 spot because some soup went airborne. Compound this by the fact that the team just doesn't have a 1A guy so you need all your pieces to be available and play reasonably well to win games.. he's done OK holding the ship together, and the only two locker-room blow ups we've heard about are no longer dressing or with the team.
Also, guys are mostly trending up in their development since JBB took over full time.
Windler, Okoro, Sexton, Garland, Stevens, Allen.. heck even Wade.
It's a shame the org didn't get in front of KPjr better, and maybe that was impossible, but you do wonder what JBB could do with that talent fully engaged with the rest of this squad.
I think my main quip would be that he sticks probably gives a few guys longer leashes than they deserve at times. But the reverse of that is Denver and MPjr situation with Malone.. fans HATE Malone right now because he yanks MP for every defensive lapse.

He is not even an average offensive coach. That goes back to his Memphis days. He is a great personality and a great player's coach. He relates to the players and the players love him.

If the cavs want to retain him, they will need to find a really good offensive coordinator. This core, even has it stands has the skills to be an above average offensive team. There is no excuse for being this bad.

Perhaps. The NBA doesn't seem to run as many sets as they expect players to read and react in particular ways to PnR or screens or one on one moves. The better offenses have a combination of great one on one players and smart players who can read/react and finish at different levels.

Given that we have put the ball in Collin and Dairus' hands, imo, the offense will by and large run on their ability to make a one on one move and then read/react and finish. I think both of them need to make better reads. I also think a G who was better at reading/reacting/making the right pass next to either of them would open up the offense for everyone.

If you don’t understand the JBB hate, last nights game should answer all your questions. We got beaten by a highschool level aggressive 2-2-1 zone. It was implemented to break our high pick and roll. JBB just had no clue and stubbornly stuck with his game plan. The guy doesn’t know how to make adjustments or is too stupid and stubborn to make them.

I’m tired of “he’s a good player coach” excuse. You don’t hire a head coach because he’s a good player coach. Thats the qualification of an assistant coach.

Last night we should have blown the Pacers out.

why did Stephen not play also watching on tv it looks like a lot of fouls should have been called on the steals from Sexton. that is why I WOULD NEVER BET A N B A GAME.

Stevens was supplanted by a returning Prince.

Obviously not the best angles since I was at the game, but I didn't see any fouls going uncalled against us. We were simply a sloppy team with no idea how to handle a trap.

17 of our turnovers and Sexton's worst stretch (the first quarter) all occurred while we were building a lead. Can't blame this loss on the refs.

EDIT: Plus, we have to be the WORST inbounding team in the entire league.

Career assistant. He’s nothing more. There’s a reason why he’s been an interim coach many times and never stuck around.
