Yeah that is what i can't figure out. I do know Beilein didn't run switches almost at all. Everyone does in the NBA especially when the 3 is killing you.
I'm guessing Beilein thinks switching is lazy and didn't allow him to implement it? The defense looks a lot different and Bickerstaff is using defensive personnel to dictate lineups.
I just don't think Beilein handed him the reins here, because they are already doing things to mitigate the small backcourt that they weren't before. I'm not that good at reading defenses, I wish someone could explain it better.
They have not done it consistently, and it appears Drummond/Love combo is really weak defensively, but Bickerstaff has had them putting together impressive defensive quarters and he has done it with more than a single lineup. He is using Cedi and Porter together more, which I thought was good defensively against the Wiz and in the 2nd half against Miami. The Tristan/Nance pairing is the backbone of most of these.
If he can put Drummond in a better position defensively, it will completely change the dynamic of this team.
