Now is when jbb show if he has a system in place and rally the group. I have faith in him let’s goooo
I know we are pushing Mobley for ROY (unless he drops off the map in the second half of the season it’s his) but JBB should be in STRONG contention for COY

Man, it’s odd but like the minute this guy signed his extension, the team’s numbers started slipping across the board...

He got criticized in the game thread because Cedi (a 40% 3pt shooter) shot a wide open 3 and missed, I think people are harsh on him

Not calling a timeout late was just awful man.

Especially when it went down to 3. That was just...it's inexcusable. I know he's young and there's no perfect coach, but come on. That's some fairly basic, grade level stuff there. That's not something he should have to learn.

It's almost as if that corresponded with the majority of the team going into Covid protocols + a short injury to Cedi and a season ending injury to Rubio, followed by a 3 week injury to Okoro.

Probably just coincidence though

Okay but look at who IS playing. Everyone’s numbers are down across the board, on both ends of the floor.

Why is our defense no longer sharp? Why are we struggling with switches? Things we were excelling at earlier in the season we are no longer excelling at.

Could be some regression
Could be some player mistakes
Could be some coaching mistakes

Could be our workhorse perimeter defender being out at the moment
Could be the loss of Rubio
Could new lineup combos because of the various injuries with less communication experience

The last 5 games we have still held teams to below their season average or at their season average in scoring.
And we still have the 2nd best defense in terms of opponents points per game. So even with all that's happened since Xmas, we relative to the rest of the league, our defense is still one of the better ones.

I'm not trying to Bahgdad Bob things. Just saying that this bump in the road has a multitude of potential explanations and contexts and hasn't been as horrible as perhaps it seems.

Coincides more with Rubios injury IMO, we were blowing teams out and then started losing to bad teams even more depleted then we were. I think JBB has done a decent job this year but I always thought the addition of Rubio + Mobley and the emergence of JA and DG were the min reasons. JBB still makes head scratching moves all the time

JBB made a great move at end of game. Took out DG and put in Rondo to guard the last shot. It worked, and we won. When Bee-line gave up, did Phil Jackson and Pat Riley call the Cavs and lobby for the head coaching position? Didnt think so. JBB is fine, better than average. You think Mike Brown 3.0 could do better? C'mon man.

When people bring up specific instances of him failing at something, the normal counter seems to be "yea, but he's still an ok coach, what else do you want?!?!"

It's rare anyone actually tries to address the specific point. Just sorta handwave away the mistake(s) and basically say "well, it's CLeveland, this is the best we can do"

We're up 10 with 2:29 to play. We go on to score no more points and end up winning by 1 and in that time frame he calls zero timeouts.

THat's no bueno.

I love you, coach!!!

These kids make a lot of mistakes. He lets them play through them for the most part.

A timeout when they are losing a 10 pt lead, yeah he should call that. I think he was scrambling trying to protect DG.

So what would you suggest the Cavaliers do about it?

He put in Wade for defense. He didn't have anyone else he trusted

Could really have used Okoro out there. He's also the kind of defender that has always bugged Steph.
