It feels like an “early” signing - waiting until interviews in the summer seems to have more upside - but it is possible that J.B. used things like rotations, players minutes, etc. as leverage.

Given the injuries that have been factoring into who plays, I do not think the insinuation that JBB was leveraging a short rotation into short term positive results has any merit. There were games were by the second quarter there were only 8 healthy guys to choose from.

It wasn’t JBB that chose to carry only 13 guys most of the season, so when 4-5 guys are out, a G league-r just came up that same day w out a single practice, and KPJ or TT goes down mid game, he literally players who was available

Just my opinion

I never accused him of that... I agree with you. My bigger point is he had things he could use as leverage - such as what I listed, player trust, building an actual system for players to work in, thinking about the draft, etc. - that he could have used to get some leverage in negotiations.

I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Whether we like it or not, the Cavs pegged him as a coach in waiting when they competed for his services this summer for the lead assistant job against several other teams. While they might have thought it would be 3-4 years before he took the reins, Beilein was just not cut out for it and the timeline accelerated. Pretty sure this wa just a formality to convert the money on his assistants deal to be more in line with the average head coach pay. The years were already there on the deal.

I actually really like J.B. He has historically run a heavy pick-and-roll system that emphasizes bigs who can roll or pop. I think that’s a good fit for the roster. I have no issue with the hire. I also think the players are buying in, and frankly, that is what is most important right now.

Happy Birthday to coach and Austin Carr

And,I like the move alot. Hopefully, Bickerstaff does something about the defense this offseason.

Imagine overreacting this hard to two wins. LOL!

Was hired with Coach in Waiting status and 5-5 since he took over. Way more importantly, much better style of play, buy in, and energy from the entire team in those 10 games. This is just converting the money on the already existing contract to align more with HC pay then with assistant pay

My only worry so far is that he rides guys too long and prefers playing vets. I want him to get Dean Wade his time and make sure Nance et al are not run into the ground.
How you made this post without referring to Sir’Dominic Pointer was enough for me to rate this as “angry.” You should be ashamed.

I do actually want to see Sir Dom. He is basically Matisse Thybulle defensively, or he should be by now

Larry drew signed a contract extension. Wouldn’t say he’s safe for next year.
