Seems a bit convenient to say he was always the man after your original coach walks less than a year into a 5 year deal

It was four plus a team option, and JBB was only 40 when it was signed. So, a plan for him to learn under Beilein, and be groomed to take over, seems credible to me. Especially if it was understood that Beilein might not want to go the full 4 anyway.

He was always supposed to be the guy from the start. The Blatt-Lue thing was the same way. Older coach to instill a new culture, associate head coach to groom and take over afterwards.

Maybe he has just grown, or he has the right guys I dunno. He has been great playing the younger guys and putting them in roles they can handle. He has really gotten them playing with each other instead of herding Cats like Beilien was. I didn't follow him closely in Memphis or Houston, but most of the criticism I heard has not been apparent here

Drummond is the one he seems to have a hard time reining in. IF he can get Drummond to play a little more conservatively, the Cavs could actually threaten the playoffs I think.

Drummond is a deterrent in the paint and did contribute last night despite some inexplicable play. He gobbled up rebounds and abused their front line. Broke Zeller's hand by just standing there. lol

So... if Garland looks good, Sexton of course looks good, Cedi, Nance, etc. all look good... when do we start showing this man some love?
Only 2 games but the ball is moving and we are competing.

Maybe like halfway through the year when perhaps we’re not shit defensively, we’re still playing together and our record is right around .500?
Not after 2 games though. Let’s face it. I like the way we played, but we beat the two worst teams in the NBA.

Yeah we are definitely going to run into some teams that are way more talented than what we have seen so far. I agree. But we do have room to grow too.
I would love to be in the film room hearing about Drummond’s shots. Like “Dre, you were 2-15 on shots further than 2 feet from the basket.”
or “yeah, Javale, great 3, nice touch on that one... so how are we getting a foul every other minute?”
