The treadmill of mediocrity is better than the treadmill of suck
the tm of suck is aka rebuilding phase.
the tm of mediocrity is usually a result of impatient roster moves that include trading away future and current assets
to acquire one player who if they fail to live up to the cost you spend on them puts you back at the beginning of the tm of suck.
I would much rather at least see if the season additions of Mobley and Markkanen can change the close game outcomes and get them into games they were never in last season.
Trading either Cavs guards which is probably what it would take to get Simmons is taking a huge leap backwards offensively unless you think they can win games shooting free throws https://sixerswire.usatoday.com/2021/09/09/shaquille-oneal-calls-out-sixers-star-ben-simmons/

Can anyone with a good grasp on the CBA answer this question that has been bugging the shit out of me regarding this trade? Lauri's salary for this upcoming season is $15.69 mil, while LNJ's is $10.69 mil. Since we are over the cap for the upcoming season, how was this a legal trade? I haven't seen any indication that we used either of our TPEs, so there must be some funky clause in the CBA that treats salaries in a S&T differently. I'd love to know the answer to this, if any of you guys could help. Thanks!

Its more about us being below the apron after the trade than the new salary actually. We are now hard capped below the apron for the season I believe, but other than that, we are good. The Apron this year is 143 million. We also could not have used the MLE, and some other funky things, but the salaries dont have to match. Also the player we send away the sending team has to have the bird rights and been on your team for over a year, basically be on our team the end of the previous year.

I would assume that Chicago gained a TPE as part of the deal.

No. Sign and trades are weird. In the trade Chicago was sending out 7.79 Million essentially the qualifying offer. It's why the most salary they could take back was 10 M in the trade. It did count as 15 M coming in to Cleveland though.

Its like Doug McDermott. He got 14 M per year. But since Pacers turned it into a sign and trade they only got back a 7 Million exception.

I was thinking that S&Ts only counted for half the outgoing salary, but I'm taking a shit at work and didn't feel like reading the CBA FAQ for the next half hour to find the right answer.

Well it's definitely Sweden we really love to hate! They are a bit bigger and better in almost everything, also the people there are more beautiful and confident and we can't stand it haha!

Yes, and also, as your fellow Scandinavians in Norway found out, you never want to turn your back on the Swedes!

I mean it's not impossible. But rumor is Simmons will likely be dealt before training camp and Lauri can't even be traded again until December 15th. Odds of him being included in a Ben Simmons deal seem unlikely. And since he fits perfectly with Ben Simmons as they cover each other's weaknesses it would be foolish to trade one of the players who actually fits next to Simmons for Simmons.

Although I will say that Markannen would pair well with Embiid, so I suppose a three-team deal where we help facilitate moving Simmons elsewhere in exchange for some assets might be doable.

Ironically that means you have ass fingers right now.

I believe we cannot trade Lauri for 3 months, not sure when the clock starts on that. I believe I read that. I think Simmons is gone before the season starts. I doubt Lauri is part of any trade involving Simmons as a direct partner or in helping facilitate a deal. And if Garland or Mobley is involved in anyway, i will fly to Cleveland and kick Altman in the balls. (and probably catch a Browns game too)

Wah no way. I installed a bidet option. Do you think I'm some kind of heathen animal?

Call it what you want, but a midget licking your asshole is not a bidet.

My dream has always to become rich enough to hire a midget to be my personal assistant/friend/loyal pet. Like if your dog would actually fetch a beer from the fridge for you. But he'd get belly rubs and all the other things a normal pet would. I mean humiliating as shit, but I'd expect to pay him $250k a year salary for it.

I think there's a possibility that the Sixers end up keeping him until December when more players like Markannen open up as trade fodder. If they don't get an acceptable offer during the offseason, I think that's at least a possibility. He won't play/report, and they won't pay him.

Most of the teams interested don't have players who aren't elgible to be traded yet. The longer the Sixers wait the worse the offers will get. Teams like GS, Portland, Minnesota have what they have to offer. It still makes the most sense for Sixers to do a Simmons for McCollum type trade. Sixers holding out for some superstar package when Ben isn't a superstar isn't smart. His value will only go down from here.
