You just know his outside shot is going to start falling. If he gets it through his head that he is indeed 7 ft. tall and plays more like it (like he did tonight) he can be a mismatch.

To me,if he has a decent post game,he'll be more of a threat offensively and able to grab offensive rebounds. I think tje rest will take care of itself...imo.. There's no excuse this team should be getting outrebounded every night with Lauri,Love,Mobley and Allen inside.

I feel like Mobley and Love are good rebounders, while Markk and Allen aren't as good. Allen and Mobley also find themselves being pulled away from rebounding position because they go after the shot block on the help a good deal (which should be fine with the three others out there, but it doesn't seem to always play out like that).
I guess a post game would help, but it doesn't seem like semi-good post-play translates to winning games in the NBA in the 2020's. I think I'd rather feed Mobley in the post and run action off of him while using Markk in more pick and pop plays where he can dribble off the close out.
I don't know.. he's still a little frustrating if he isn't hitting open 3's. They really need to go in to make the huge 3 work, imo.

I think part of the issue is we have several new players and everyone needs to be playing together. It will take time regardless of who the coaches are. Encouraging signs tonight.

Lauri needs to be more aggressive on the boards.

He averaged 7.5 and 9.0 RPG his first two years in Chicago so we know he can be a good rebounder.

But it seems like he needs to be ridden hard to start putting his body on others and reminded that he is 7-feet tall; something he is adverse to. A lot of these Western or Northern Europeans guys don’t enjoy physical contact and banging.

Lauri needs to get hard and angry, to use his length and girth (dude is not rail thin like Mobley) and fucking get in there, impose his will, and start pounding guys. Really punish them.

I was looking at his career stats,Im surprised he's a good rebounder. He currently has 7.3 rebounds after three games. I still think he needs a post-up game to be a bigger threat offensively but Im willing to give him time to work on it. He doesn't need to be great at it but good enough to go to the line and kick out to the open shooter.

Lauri,Mobley,Love and Allen are really good free throw shooters...

As pointed out, Markkanen is grabbing over 7RPG from the 3 spot. That's fine – particularly when you take into account that he's actually averaging a career high in offensive rebounds (the boards that truly matter in this league).

Lauri obviously doesn't have the crazy length that both Mobley and Allen do. He battles, but simply can’t reach many of the 50/50 balls bouncing around the paint area.

Lauri's problem is not positioning or intensity in rebounding. At the moment he is in the right place and contesting, hes just really struggling to secure the ball when he makes contact so hes tipping and losing a lot of balls. if he keeps his aggressiveness up though he will get a bit more luck.

Taking a look at Lauri's Bulls stats, a picture emerges of a streaky-ish outside shooter. That's not alarming in itself – there's plenty of hot/cold bombers in the NBA, some of whom are regarded as great offensive players (we just faced one of them in Trae).

However, if your shot is not falling, you have to stay engaged in other ways. Lauri needs to keep moving off the ball, cutting hard and putting pressure on the D, as well as fighting for rebounds. His teammates also need to recognize that when he has an off night on the perimeter, he needs to be fed when he seals a defender under the hoop or cuts along the baseline.

Its still a bit early, but how has Lauri looked on defense? I am still not convinced he is anything but a rich man's Andrea Bargnani and that we fucked up bad not just taking DJJ and a pick.

He is barely a rich man's Andrea Bargani, and thats coming from a Bulls fan.

We can easily account at least 20% bump or more on his rebounds for the RoLo-effect. he is old school center and one of the best in boxing out, and helped tremendously in the Bulls with boards. His presence makes the rest of team take easier rebounds. He doesn't care a shit about his personal stats as he knows team rebounding especially in defense is the key. Then, whoever gets them, fine.
