Welcome Marquese Chriss

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I thought Williams played well. Thought he would have made sense last year with no wings.

Chriss is worse IMO

I think Williams would have worked with the team last year too. He was able to guard 2 thru 4 and if he keep shooting 40%, he could have been useful as a big wing paired with Jeff Green and LBJ.

For this team though, Chriss makes more sense just because the light might come on with him and he might hit his ceiling. I think for Derrick Williams, he is who he is at this point. If Williams had a full year with the Cavs he might have turn into what Jeff Green is for the wizards now. I think Green realized the little changes he needed to make to be a solid role player in the league, which started with consistently making a 3 pt shot.

I'm not sure Chriss can ever guard 2 thru 4 like Green or Williams. He is basically a pure PF defensively right now. I think for him to be useful, he will need to either be able to guard centers or SFs to increase his versatility. He has to keep hit 3 pointers too.

Dennis Rodman became a useful player, and he has no higher IQ than Chriss. He is not hurting anything right now so I say let him play.

I don't even know how Dennis would work in today's NBA. I'm wondering if he'd even be a net positive.

Very few players in today's game lack offensive skills. Dennis had zero. Dude played with a mean streak, defended the post, and out-rebounded you, which means he out-hustled you because he was only like 6'7. Usually the 4's all have offensive skills now.

Well there are a few guys still making it by mere rebounding and no offensive skills, like say Tristan Thompson. Andre Drummond also comes to mind.

But in this case it is reverse. Chriss seems to be better are scoring than at rebounding. I don't think he is an A player, I think he is a guy that gets a contract because he can score and rebound adequately. And I think that if the Cavs help him reach that level, their reward will be another trade asset back.

Tristan Thompson is a poor man's Rodman and he is a net positive.

17 rebs a game while playing excellent defense will work in todays game. You just need a 3 point shooting center.

You’re as wrong as can be about Rodman. Or confusing b-ball IQ with being an idiot off the court. Rodman had superior b-ball IQ and if you don’t remember from watching then you can read up on it.

This really is the key. A shooting center changes the floor game tenfold. In today's game of course.

Ofcourse for his first two rings, Rodman played with a 3 point shooting center in Laimbeer, With the Bulls it was a different league, but the triangle used Rodman's underrated passing skills to their advantage.

Rodman was like the idiot savant of rebounding. He had a good basketball IQ, but more than that when it came to rebounding. He literally could predict in air the angle the ball was going to come off the rim and backboard. He was the Rainman of rebounding, lol. I have seen interviews with him explaining it, kind of amazing, I don't even know if you could teach all of his rebounding skills, it just wasn't hustle and effort, it was so much more.

His offense has been shockingly better then I expected. Dude has shown a decent stroke. Needs to improve on defense but he may he a keeper as a nice stretch big off the bench depending on what other moves we make this off season.

It's funny how a bad season, bad team, could make a young journeyman look good and have all sorts of potential.

Houston didn't know what they had because they stuck to their guns. Chriss didnt get a fair shake.

Phoenix is a basketball wasteland. Fuck that team.

I'm happy for Chriss though. I hope his untapped potential becomes something here.
