Still only 21 years old and flashed some of his potential in Phoenix. Sucked major ass in Houston, but he hasn't received consistent playing time all season long.

Should be an interesting guy to watch this season if we hang on to him.

6'10"
240 lbs
8th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft (Sacramento), out of Washington

He has talent, I really liked what I saw when he was in Pheonix. Give him extended minutes, have him play through mistakes and big minutes when he is playing well and I feel like he can develop into a handy player for us.

If we do what we previously did to Zizic and have him just playing random spot minutes I will be disapointed.

in all honestly he might even be worth starting at PF... he can stretch the floor and protect the rimo. Give him a chance we have nothing to lose, he either makes it or helps us tank

This is the kind of player you get on the cheap, sign to a cheap contract, help him get his $hit together, and flip him for a pick or better player before he back slides. Part of the art of tank. While you are losing, you can get real nba minutes to a bonehead, so he can figure it out. They are motivated by the showcase, because they want a payday..

As pointed out he is a young player who was late to the game. He has the physical tools to be a good player. So in my book he is at least as good a gamble as Billy Preston. Now is the time to roll these dice..

I like what I see skills wise. Kind of surprised the Rockets let him go but hey, this could be a W. Hopefully he isn't traded.

Yeah apparently he used to play football and has played basketball for only 6 years? He looks like he is list all the time and sort of stupidly stands around a lot.

His body seems awkward, but I saw him miss a dunk and go from on the rim to dunking it again. Never saw anything like that before. It was stupid and offensive interference, but it was crazy. He actually gets compared to Tristan a lot.

Million dollar body ten cent head guy, but his body isn't wide and he isn't a good screen setter. Bad def rebounder

I don't see why he can't play pf and not just center

The problem is that we don't really have the minutes to give him. We've got Zizic, TT, Nance, Love, and now Chriss. Granted, both TT and Love are currently injured, but both will be back soon. Exactly where do we get the minutes to give Chriss a legitimate shot without benching someone else we don't want to bench?

I suppose we'll move Cedi back to the 3 where he belongs now that Burks is gone, so that opens up the PF spot. But that means Drew is going to have to play Nance at the 4, which he apparently doesn't like to do.

Posted this on another thread, I'll just copy/paste it here.

Also, I like the addition of Chriss.

For those that haven't seen him before, he's going to do some things that will absolutely WOW you. He'll have an electric dunk or block where you think "holy shit how isn't this kid a star?" Then he'll get lazy, take plays off, do ridiculously dumb things and you'll think "Holy shit, how is this kid even still in the league?"

He needs a fire lit under him, and he obviously needs a coaching staff beyond what we have. However, he's still young (21), has so much untapped potential it's scary. He's in a contract year also. If he can't play motivated for us, he can't play motivated for anyone as he'll be out of the league. This is his last chance, and it's upto him to realize that and do something about it.

The tools are there, trust me. Tremendous athlete.

Another thing about Chris's is even though the team option was declined, he has three years of service. The Cavs hold Full Bird Rights and can re-sign him without using the MLE or Bi-Annual Exceptions.

His raw tools are so good. It is a shame he is so raw and low IQ. I really don't see why he couldn't be an injury backup as both Nance and Love are hurt a lot. He prob needs another 3 years to figure anything out. He can shoot fast and has a compact shot. He has that that totally upright Preston Cluelessness about him.

Exactly. Knowing how to play & being athletic enough to play the NBA is a far cry from just being athletic enough to play in the NBA. Decision making with and without the ball and anticipation on defense.. How often are these things learned by a guy heading into his 3rd/4th season in the league?

It sucks he has some good instincts. He is a freak too. Usually a guy with such short arms can't block shots like that. He is crazy athletic and can keep up with guards. What a waste. He should have stayed in school. His uprightness is problematic for defense, and his brain seems so poor. I hope he is freaked out and tries real hard, and Cavs sign him to a min deal or something, but I am going in with super low expectations because I think he isn't going to figure it out.

He's athletic and can shoot. Low expectations but potential is there.

I was really looking forward to him and Dragan Bender on the suns a few years ago, but Chriss really really sucks. Maybe the reality of being traded multiple times will wake him up and make him better, but I’d doubt he’s good enough to even remain on the team beyond this season.
