After Williams and Dieng went off the board, Eason was the guy for us. The bad hombre we needed. But Koby was weighing culture too heavily at that time. Ochai was quite clearly an end of the bench guy.

Dieng would have been the wrong pick. Way too raw and doesn't fit the timeline. He would not touch the floor for 3 years.

Clearly for me the pick should have been Jalen Williams, had him 1st on my draft board. He was taken before our pick, so the next obvious pick was Eason. Hands down. If not Eason then Mark Williams clearly. That's it.

No one was beating the drum harder for Jalen Williams than me. Dieng made all the sense in the world before Mitchell. Obviously not after. But those guys were gone. Eason was the guy at that point.

Meh, I was THE Jalen Williams guy. You can check the post history. You were a Dieng guy.. I remember quite well.

The long lingering wondering if is still how did Koby think or come to decide that he was a better fit for the Cavs than the three picks immediately after: Mark Williams, AJ Griffin, and Eason.
Horrible…

I was Dieng for upside for sure early on but in the final days I wanted Jalen the more tape I watched he was my guy

*I* was a big Dieng guy. Still would be if the Donovan trade hadn't been made. Sometimes we get things wrong, though it's still a curiosity on how it would work.

Okay.. but you said no one was beating the drum harder than you.. that's incorrect. Maybe you loved him from the inside.

I was THE Jalen Williams guy. Don't take it away from me man.

Anyways, imagine if we had Williams and Mitchell :O

I was a huge Jalen Williams guy too, maybe even bigger than you. I kept preaching him, then he went 12th and I almost cried, lol

Imagine if we drafted Mark Williams, kept Lauri, and moved Allen in the Lauri trade instead

So close man...

I remember you loved him.

I really did, just thought he was right there with Scottie Barnes in his game, I thought perfect next to Garland and Okoro for our offense. It doesnt matter, i would trade him and Lauri for Mitchell. He was going to be gone if we drafted him. Mitchell is the level player that you go all in if you get to keep your core like we were able too.

I think he was worried about developmental time. I think Eason needed a lot of minutes to develop and still does. He is not the right guy for the starting lineup, but he would have been good off the bench. I loved him, don't get me wrong, but I understand the thinking. Still, you need to take the best player.

Jalen Williams was the best choice because he could have come in and played right away. Koby thought Ochai was like that too, but he wasn't.

Agbaji could still become a 3 and D guy, but he has a lot of work to do.

It doesn't matter. Whoever we picked would have been included in the Mitchell deal.
