Rajon HOT WATER Rondo

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He doesn't break the defense at all. That is the problem. Rubio did. He'd get past the first line of defense and guys would converge on him at the basket. Most of the work is being done by the guys off ball. I think he looks good shooting it, but he seems way more comfy on the catch and shoot.

It's too bad his finishing has gotten so poor.

I like Rondo, and I am really happy they got him. I am totally willing to give him some time, but he looks rusty to me.

Rubio had 27 when he went down. He was just a different leader and he was a chaos agent creating opportunities for guys.
This. I want to be clear that Rondo is basically one of the only PG trade options we had so I don’t want to seem pessimistic. But to people saying Rondo replaces most of what Rubio gave us, it just isn’t true. People pointing to Rondo’s numbers are ignoring that it’s a tiny sample size where Rondo is shooting the 3 unsustainably.

He doesn’t penetrate and collapse the defense like Rubio did, which is a huge difference. Because Rondo just isn’t really a threat to score inside the arc and he’s not as crafty at getting by his man. Rubio might not have shot the best percentage inside but defenses genuinely worries about him.

And defensively it’s just an enormous difference. Rubio is an absolute menace on the ball and a great team defender. Rondo at his age and smaller size just isn’t that.

I’ve said this before but there’s a reason Rubio literally ranks 14th in the entire league in RAPM this season. He just helps teams win. Rondo ranks 516th this season in RAPM and hasn’t posted a positive score since 2012...10 years ago.

I have a prediction that Goodwin will prove himself to be a better backup PG option by the end of the year.

You see Allen doing that? Mobley? Garland? Cedi? Lauri? Love?

Yeah… I'm pretty sure we have nobody else on this team who'd get a kick out of tormenting ball boys – and then not even tipping them.

Fuck this dude…
So what year was that? Is that report from one experience or is it a pattern? Is it something he's doing currently? You do know people can change over time, don't you?

The lack of tipping apparently isn't unusual among some players, with Lebron being one of the worst offenders. I find it pretty strange but more weird than anything else.

Are we sure this is legit? This sounds like a @The Oi special story. Are NBA players just keeping cash in their pockets during practice/shootaround to tip the ball boy?
To me that whole story sounds fishy as fuck.

For the record Rondo has always been one of my most disliked players in the league. But he's a Cav now, and I believe he can be a positive influence and contributor. Acquiring Rondo also led to Valentine leaving, so not only did it cost us nothing but there was addition by subtraction. So, I'm going to give the guy a chance to show out with whatever he has left in the tank.

Just because Rondo is a dick does not preclude the value he offers on and off the court for our team. He is known to be a film junkie and fits right in with our lunch pail mentality team.

He is not a locker room cancer the way someone like KPJ is. He had issues with Carlisle, who seems like a huge pain to work with as is, and thats it. Every other star he has played with (Boogie, AD etc) has always had nothing but good things to say post his Boston days.

You think the Cavs run the Picket Fence Play?

Or maybe Rondo builds a basketball court in the middle of nowhere in Iowa?

Wait no, they are going to fire Koby and Kevin Costner will come in to run the Cav's draft...drafting the wrong guy in the first, but uses both of our 2nds to move back up in the 1st to draft the right guy.

Jordan was a dick, Jason Kidd was a dick, Karl Malone was a pedo dick, Kobe was a dick. Being in a hyper competitive sports environment is where dicks thrive. As long as he isn’t throwing soup or causing drama hes welcome in my books.

The longer he's out with the hamstring and the longer we keep winning with Goodwin, the more awkward this is gonna get.

Rondo is already ruled out for tomorrow. Keep rolling with Goodwin. If he isn’t right, no need to rush him back.

What is Rondo even out with? It feels like one of those fake injuries that the team makes up because he’s old.
