Welcome Taurean Prince

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Split the difference - he’ll be the buyout guy next year.

I am not sure he is a buyout guy, he is not a difference maker and i dont know he is type to ring chase and he isnt a drummond who was ruining the team, so he would have to give up money to get bought out.

Wishful thinking on my part. It was amusing to me watching all the kvetching over the Drummond buyout, when in fact buying him out or not was a very minor issue at this point.

The Drummond buyout elevated Cedi to the fourth highest paid player on the team.

He's an easy guy to package. 13-15m guys get moved all the time.

He's playing like a guy that wants to get traded to a better team this summer.

Played really well yesterday and against the Heat on Saturday.
I thought pre-Cavs he was on his way to being a solid in the rotation guy. Suprised he's now considered Cedi's brother from another mother

He is an awkward player though, he isnt bad enough to be a bench warmer and he isnt good enough to be part of a rotation of a good team. I also can't see us being that interested in taking on a bad contract.. at some point we should think about team building

The last two games Prince has had 19/6 and 14/7 points/rebounds off the bench in 29 minutes per game. He's done a nice job with Allen and Nance out and Love on limited minutes. We need scoring off the bench and when Prince is on he can provide some. In the huge double overtime win over Brooklyn he had 17 points, 7 boards, and 4 assists.

But I agree "he isn't bad enough to be a bench warmer and he isn't good enough to be part of a rotation of a good team". Which means he's either a bench warmer on a good team or part of the rotation on a bad team. Kind of like Dante Exum in that way.

Right now with Windler out and Cedi benched he's getting some minutes and taking advantage. Being out for a month with a couple of injuries set him back but he's finding his rhythm now and providing a much needed scoring option when either Sexton or Garland is down.

If we draft a wing then going into next season Prince will have a hard time finding minutes with Okoro, Nance, Cedi, and Windler also in the picture.

Sure, but you could package him with something for an upgrade. He'll be expiring. A 2nd and Prince for an RFA someone doesn't want to pay for example.

By the deadline the receiving team barely pays him and he is worth depth. Injury replacement etc

I don't think Prince is as bad as some make him out to be. It looks like he has some 3 pt shooting potential. He hasn't played much to gel with the ever changing lineups. Isn't he better than Cedi? And with Nance out all the time wtf give him some more run.

This is his fifth year in the Association and he just turned 27. His career shooting percentage is 40.9%, which is awful. On 3's it's 36.7%, just OK. He's played in 293 games, starting 210. At this point he is what he is, which is not much if you go by the numbers. As a starter this year his shooting percentage is an abysmal 31.3%.

The only reason he's on the Cavs is to make the money work in the Allen deal. We're stuck with him for another year and then he's gone.

FG% doesn't mean much when half your attempts are from 3.

Would be more helpful to look at his 2PT% (36.3% this year and 45.2% from his career) which isn't even good enough to be classified as awful :chuckle:

He's a fine role player when all he's asked to do is spot up shoot and defend. Hopefully, he keeps playing well for us and we can drop him to a better team this off-season.

It's a shame he went out injured just before the deadline because I think we could have flipped him then. He could help a contender in limited minutes.

We are now due for a 2 point, 1-11/0-6 0 assists 2 rebound 4 foul 25 minute game from Prince.

Seriously, hope he continues this hot streak through the season.
