Greg Newsome II Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Good point.

Honestly first time I've ever seen this site. I have no idea how accurate or worthwhile their information is.

I've never felt Denzel is small at corner.

Ha - I just followed your lead because I was curious for comparison sake.

Funny because when I watched Newsome's tape, I feel like he looks eerily similar to Ward size-wise. They're both very wiry.

Woods has all the weapons he needs now if he's as good a coach as some claim. I was a loud critic of his last year. Hope to be eating some crow.

Dont hold your breath he trades up for a LB.

If he trades up it will be for a DL or WR he really likes. LB is not a position they value enough to trade up. We will be running with allot of 1 nd 2 LB schemes. We used a 3rd last year, have 3 young linebackers and signed a productive ILB this offseason who will be on the field the most of any LB.

Just not going to be LB.

No seriously, I appreciate it. I haven't looked at that site until Greg Newsome arm length led me there. It's helpful.

Love the pick, but that hat looks ridiculous on him. Needs to let that hair out, if I had his hair, i would never wear a hat, lol

Hat looks good on him. He got that drip.

Cleveland overhauled its secondary in the offseason, and a big part of that was the selection of Newsome from Northwestern in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Given the sheer volume of new faces, it’s likely that the fix won’t be immediate, but the Browns would dearly love to see Newsome hit the ground running the way few rookie cornerbacks did a season ago.
The first glimpse of him won’t have done anything to make them more confident in that, though. He was shaken loose by Marvin Jones Jr. for a big pass play courtesy of Trevor Lawrence, though he did well to get back and at least contest at the catch point, forcing Jones to be strong. Newsome was also beaten later on a curl by Jones for a near-first down.
Newsome saw only 18 snaps, so those two plays had a disproportionate effect on his grade, but he was also blocked off the field trying to set the edge on a receiver screen. The Browns will hope these were just teething problems.

He did not look good for sure, but its only one game and about 20 snaps. He was playing a good receiver and Jacksonville's #1 receiver although he would be a #2 on about half the teams in the league

It sounds like Newsome has played well and with good instincts in practice. Obviously games are a different animal, but playing CB in the NFL seems to be a baptism by fire for a lot of guys. I'm sure there will be some growing pains, but I'm confident that he'll grow into his role just fine.

The coverage was also there on the deep pass to Jones - it was just a good throw and a good catch. Tip of the cap.

Not worried at all about Newsome based on what I saw vs Jax.

I'm not going to read too much into Newsome getting beat in a preseason game by a great veteran receiver like Marvin Jones.
My thoughts exactly. It’s not like Marvin Jones is some fringe roster guy.

To be fair, we played zone allot and Hill was covered in the zone or by Ward. They looked for 2 targets, Kelce covered by Zone, LB or Safety and Hill, covered by Ward or zone over.

I liked how Newsome looked, but KC doesnt care who is covering you, its always about who they want to get the ball too.
