45 minutes long but a good watch. Schmitz does these with pretty much every lottery pick. Usually in person but via zoom this year for obvious reasons.

He basically breaks down elements of Isaacs game, asking Isaac situational questions about the plays featured, and shows clips of similar plays from some of the (admittedly high end) comps for Okoro.

Pretty good stuff and you really get a sense for Isaacs approach to the game as well as his commitment to always be the hardest worker as he continues to improve on his game

No after watching the film his form isn't broken but it's going to take HUNDREDS OF HOURS in the gym... with Price to for him to work on his release. His shot problem is that he shoots with his arm instead of his wrist...thus the really bad misses you see him take.

So what?

The Cavs have passcards and a system set up in their facility where they can track how much time each player spends in there, and even how many shots each of them takes on their own. This article is from last year:

...Following a loss against Dallas, a night in which Luka Doncic schooled Sexton, the Cavaliers rookie went to the practice facility and hoisted 750 shots. Hours after that defeat, all Sexton could think about was working on his shot. One week at Cleveland Clinic Courts, the Cavs counted 9,000 shots from their players -- a number tallied by an internal monitoring system set up at the facility -- and Sexton took 3,000. The Cavs have even tried to get him to pick up a hobby so basketball isn’t all he does....

Point is...a guy like Sexton or Okoro will log hundreds of hours in the gym in a matter of mere months.

Seems about how that will play out here in Cleveland.
Why?

Sexton, Love, Garland, KPJ, Windler, Cedi, and potentially even Nance all profile out as efficient to above average 3P shooters.

I still chuckle every time I read this :chuckle:

Just to sum up Koby's comments:

  • The pick was a perfect marriage of the right fit with the best talent, which is "hard to do"
  • "Ready-made body" and a "monstrous physique" for the wing position
  • Has the physique to guard 1-4
  • Bickerstaff is excited about using him "all over the floor doing a lot of different things"
  • A "wonderful fit" with our guards, who are all ball-dominant
  • The Cavs needed to address the defensive side of the ball
  • There are a lot of good wings in the East who are often their team's best scorer; Okoro can match up against them
  • Has "a lot of upside offensively"; they would not have taken him if he could only play D
  • An "underrated passer" with a good basketball IQ
  • "The shot's not broken" but he will "have to get comfortable with the catch-and-shoot"
  • Will impact the defense immediately, "the other stuff will come along"
  • Is "incredible laterally" with great "switchability" and the mentality and toughness to be a great defender
  • Had a "tremendous, awe-inspiring workout" when they went to Auburn and they were also impressed by him as a person. Shout-out to Dan Gilbert for funding their trips around the country to meet with prospects personally
  • Will "live in the gym" and "progressively get better"
  • A "wonderful teammate"
  • A lot of "contending teams were trying to move up to our range". The Cavs considered trading down a few spots but did not want to risk losing Okoro

This pick was for continuing the Garland/Sexton dynamic. Nothing more or else. It was a need pick in a weak draft.

I am so excited to see him on the court with our guys. There should be so much more space in the NBA game than he had in college. If we actually play with more motion, I see no reason the Cavs can't have a top 15 offense this season.

I think it’s a great pick, I don’t get the its a tank pick this year. He’s going to make us a good bit better this year and definitely in the long run. Few other guys take another step and my expectations are playoffs this year. Hoping the Garland is looking good this offseason ends up being true
