Don't matter how jacked he is if he's still missing 2 out of every 3 3point attempts.
I get annoyed at how often I have to say this...but why does everyone just assume he will never become a decent shooter? He isnt old enough to drink and people keep acting like he is a finished product. Give the kid some time to work on his game and shore up those weaknesses.

And mathematically speaking, 33% from 3 is perfectly fine. Thats 1 pps which is better than most 2 point attempts.

He is a work in progress but we also don't know what he will actually develop into. I think it's just as premature to slot Okoro in as our starting SG and push Sexton out. Beyond just 3pt shooting, Okoro needs to work on his ball handling if he is going to be our starting SG.

So much of this team is a work in progress and we just need to see what exactly they develop into so we can piece together lineups and rotations to best suit everyone. There are gaps in talent that can be filled by role players.

Guy got big. Quick question, which is a better line up construction?
PG: Garland
SG: Okoro
SF: Barnes
PF: Love
C: Allen

OR

PG: Sexton
SG: Okoro
SF: Nance/Prince
PF: Love
C: Mobley

There has to be a C, one where Love is not in the lineup. I dont hate him, and we are stuck with him for 1.5 more seasons, but no need to start him

Personally I think he can become a very good player, and I think he will improve his shooting, but just based on form and confidence, i think 38% is where he tops at....not scientific, and i would be happy at 38% with his athletic ability, defense, ect.

I would like one of our wings to be a dead eye shooter, only player on the team that i feel has that potential is Garland, he has a beautiful shot. Sexland looks like he will go from good, to great, but not dead eye.

We will see, not sure who is available for that.

I wish we could somehow snag Trey Murphy in the draft.

I'm curious why the lineup with Garland gets the benefit of both the draft pick and Allen, but the lineup with Sexton loses Allen. Because if we drafted Mobley, that second lineup would have Mobley at PF in place of Love, and Allen at center.

Okoro big metric for improvement might not actually be shooting percentages. It might be FT rate. Towards the end of the season he began to gain comfort attacking the rim in a controlled and somewhat methodical way. If his increased strength and experience along with more ballhandling allow him to attack more his ft attempts should go up and improve his overall offensive impact

Bingo

That OT game against Phoenix where he got his career high, if I'm not mistaken he led the team in free throw attempts and had Paul, Booker and Craig in foul trouble before they took over and closed us out in the extra period.

May have led us in assists too.

His entire game opens up when he's getting the ball on the move with an ability to get one of those shoulders by smaller defenders. He's too powerfully built and patient as an offensive player for backcourts to defend him.

Okay, I cringe even typing this, so try and bear with me. I am in no way saying the two players are comparable in ability.

I've had this thing where I've seen characteristics of Okoro before. The way he kinda has that rounded muscular SG thing going on where he's just a little too strong and a little too fast compared to the other players around his size. How towards the end of the year, once he got his shoulder just a sliver past your shoulder, he was beating you to the basket... and it just dawned on me. He reminds me of a less fluid Dwyane Wade in that one very specific aspect.

I know I'm an old man, but he looks way cooler all fro'd out than with the braids.
He looks taller with that hair- I’d rather have him like that on the floor:chuckle:

Seriously though, I’m so excited for him. These next upcoming years are going to be fun and I don’t want to lose him.

What's the connection with okoro & Brandon Boston? He had okoro on his IG story yesterday (pic issac him & the award).

The Cavs organization clearly loves Okoro. I wouldn’t dismiss them pursuing either Cooper or Boston in the draft, as Okoro is close to both of them and would probably put in a good word.

That's competely fair. Wade had that strange way of getting to the hoop where he didn't seem quite fast enough to blow by people, but was getting by them anyway. I agree that extra little bit that enabled him to do that was just strength/mass.

Okoro does seem to have a similar weapon in his arsenal.

It's also a reminder that strength is sometimes underrated, especially among perimeter players whose speed/quickness usually gets all the headlines. There's a pretty good history in the NBA of strong perimeter guys playing above their length.
