Pretty sure that trade had been in the works on both sides long before it materialized.

But yeah... apparently he "forced" his way off two teams while voluntarily leaving millions on the table to help those organizations build better rosters.


Makes perfect sense...

He had a NTC that he waived to be traded to the Cavs - it really doesn't matter.

No idea why are you are upset over this. Look up how his sixers tenure ended. And he did it in a more polite way. But when Clippers didn't give him what he wanted which was a new contract. He asked for a trade. He took pay cuts then forced his way out. Oddly both times due to money related issues. Sixers didn't give him what they promised him. And Clippers wouldn't give him guaranteed money after this deal.

Upset? No - I just don't think you are really that accurate... He waived his NTC to be traded to the Cavs and is helping them out with a pay cut...

Because he wanted out of LA because they wouldn't guarantee him a deal after this season. Which he has done multple times before. And before he decided on CLE he wanted to go back to Houston. I'm just saying him signing an extension means nothing. He is a fickle dude and could demand a trade at any point for any reason.
 
Harden restructuring is step one to getting under the second apron. Then they can make any more they choose, even if none.

Harden is a durable guard who is more productive than what they traded for him- Garland. It would be helpful if he made more playoff 3s, but simply playing with the team through camp should make them a more cohesive and consistent team.

The Clippers weren't going to extend him. He was waiving it to go somewhere. That's the point. He's already been down the test F.A. road and it didn't go well. He ended up opting in with the Sixers and then demanding a trade.

The production matters and his specific ability to produce in a way that augments our All-Star bigs is really a great bit of synergy even if he loses a step and the whistle gets less friendly. Shooting and playmaking age well.

I’ve been annoyed at Harden for doing Harden things and I’m not sure what the “Harden as productive defender” thesis even is, but his value is there and agreeing to the pay cut is good.

Any NBA Player can demand a trade at any point for any reason - he has been in the league for what 17 years come on... Harden literally is about to take a pay cut out to help this team out...He is still one of the top players in the league at his position as well...

I've literally said nothing bad about his play. I said he has been finding reasons to demand trades. He has done so in Houston, Brooklyn, Philly and LA since 2021. So I wouldn't be shocked if or when he decides he doesn't wanna be a Cav anymore.

Next season will be his 18th in the NBA, right?


Using the Philadelphia situation as the lone example over an 18-year career and concluding he'll do it again feels like a pretty big stretch. That's just how I see it. I don't agree necessarily with the Clippers example as well...

But if true...


James Harden left the Philadelphia 76ers primarily because the front office refused to offer him a long-term, lucrative contract extension. Harden felt betrayed, claiming 76ers President Daryl Morey broke a previous handshake agreement, which led to a complete breakdown in their relationship and a trade to the LA Clippers

Ignoring Houston ending where bro was wearing a fat suit before getting traded to the Nets. Then him forcing his way outta Brooklyn? It's been a pattern he had asked out if his last 4 teams. You can argue if it was "forcing" his way out of LA vs asking for a trade. But you can't deny that he forced his way outta Houston, Brooklyn and Philly. All since 2021.

Well - I guess we will certainly see what happens here... I am not expecting Harden to force himself off this team this season... I am not going to look past this season - because there is no real point to worry about something like this... Time will tell... That Brooklyn situation was complete disaster as well...
