Kelce was beating Jok when he was covering him. It wasnt a physical thing, we played allot of zone and Kelce is very good at finding the holes in a zone. Woods didnt trust our defense yet to cover KC one on one...and honestly not sure i disagree. KC is the exception to most rules, you are just trying to slow them down enough to out score them.

The gameplan was to keep everything in front of them and shut down the run on first down, which worked for awhile until Mahomes activated his cheat codes.

KC is just an incredibly tough matchup across the board with their skill positions.

Once we lost Harrison, we had to stay more zone than man. Kelce and Hill are just both hard covers, and on top of that Mahomes cannon of an arm makes it even more difficult.

I wasnt upset with the zone, just pointing out i was specifically looking for JOK on covering Kelce and every time when Jok let Kelce go in the zone like JOK is supposed too, it seems Mahomes found Kelce....just a tough cover.

I thought the defensive game plan was generally fine. Play zone and get pressure with 4. And the Browns did get pressure quite a bit!

Unfortunately, Mahomes is just unbelievably good at escaping the pocket and making plays out of structure, which he did repeatedly. And on top of that, the Browns got incredibly unlucky on one particularly poorly underthrown deep ball that turned into a 75-yard TD pass.

Agreed. Pretty sure we win that game yesterday against any QB not named Mahomes.

This is definitely proof that quality of opponent isn't a factor. JOK had the toughest matchup going against Kelce and the Chiefs. Let's see what happens with a bigger sample size, just like how the Newsome thread has some debate heating up.

I know it was a zone scheme, but JOK was covering Kelce on the zone allot and got beat. Dont get me wrong, Kelce beats every LB or Safety like a drum, first TE to lead the league in receiving yards.

I watch both games. Zaven had a good game, i am not mad at him. Its a long season, we will see if JOK lives up the hype. He did ok in week 1, but i wouldnt say he earned a higher grade. Heck 70 is a pretty good grade, better than i might have given him week one and i was happy with his performance for a rookie LB.

70 is a great game for a rookie in his first game, especially against Kelce and the Chiefs

Beautiful play from Wu, but I was surprised to read the snap counts and see he only played 18 snaps against the Texans. Soooo damn much Mack Wilson.
And I thought I read somewhere JOK is on the kickoff team? Sub Mack in on that.

Watch both AJ Green and JOK on kick and punt coverage. They have been incredible! Now I know why they felt okay with letting Hodge go.
They've really stood out to me on kickoffs. I feel like every time the opponent tries to run one out, we stop them by like the 18 yard line--and it's usually one of those two making the play.
