It’s actually a bit more complicated than that. Binkster is ultimately right, the space itself is owned by Sherwin Williams (it’s their building, after all). But the Cavs have a special deal with Sherwin Williams, and after LeBron left the banner is part of a larger partnership between the two companies. I don’t know what kind of terms are in the agreement or how long the Cavs have the “rights” to the space, but I’m sure another company like Nike can make an offer to Sherwin for the banner space, and I’d expect the Cavs would be given the ability to match.Guess I stand corrected. Was told by my Cavs guy that they owned it. Whoops
On top of that, any banner design would also need to be approved by the Cleveland Planning Commission and city council. So they have a say in it too.
