Guess I stand corrected. Was told by my Cavs guy that they owned it. Whoops
It’s actually a bit more complicated than that. Binkster is ultimately right, the space itself is owned by Sherwin Williams (it’s their building, after all). But the Cavs have a special deal with Sherwin Williams, and after LeBron left the banner is part of a larger partnership between the two companies. I don’t know what kind of terms are in the agreement or how long the Cavs have the “rights” to the space, but I’m sure another company like Nike can make an offer to Sherwin for the banner space, and I’d expect the Cavs would be given the ability to match.

On top of that, any banner design would also need to be approved by the Cleveland Planning Commission and city council. So they have a say in it too.

So are you saying that the more famous you are, the more “acceptable” it is to skip OTAs? It’s weird to use fame as the benchmark here as opposed to something like veteran status.

Not exactly, but this guy probably has more on his plate than say, Joel Bitonio. Either way, mandatory starts today so this non-story story will be gone. I bet when he catches 15 touchdowns next year nobody will remember he skipped voluntary OTAs.

  1. There is no "LeBron James of the NFL." The NFL doesn't have a single athlete who comes close to LeBron's level of superstardom. Stop trying to force equivalencies that don't exist. If you want to say OBJ is the most recognizable athlete in the NFL, I still disagree. Most recognizable non-QB? I think I can get with you on that statement.
  2. Fame and skipping OTAs should not be related
  3. If Kitchens and the Browns organization want to grow their status as a free agent destination, then being cool with these guys skipping optional practices has to be accepted. Freddie being cool as the other side of the pillow with OBJ expressing his right to skip OTAs does a lot more for this organization than him throwing a uesless bitch fit about a professional skipping something that isn't required of them.

He could catch 17 if he was at OTAs

Pat Shurmur threw petty barbs about OBJ missing OTAs.

Do not be like Pat Shurmur.

I am an employee at Sherwin-Williams. Here's my input:

I don't know anything at all about this.

Hope that helps.

I never really thought of it like that. That's a totally different perspective we should take into consideration

You really hope to see more people claim they know nothing moving forward.

Solid example tbh.

Joe Thomas just pancaked Grossi. Somebody get a big spatula so we can scrape him off the pavement.

Grossi was despised by players 35 years ago. Nothing's changed.

Can Grossi just get ran out of town? Imagine if nobody followed him or clicked his bullshit?

Actually, can someone explain how a guy who is hated by the team(s) he covers, and by the fans, has a job still?

And also, how is a person so unself-aware?

@The Oi

Grossi should probably just say “agree to disagree” like a guy who knows he just got stuffed into a body bag by a Hall of Famer.
