Welcome to Cleveland OT Austin Barber

One day, RCF will look back, and realize that it reached its all-time low with the Barber jokes.

Gentlemen, we are actually living history!

Damnit, I should have known. Anyways, back to the serious discussion about how much Austin Barber resembles his Dad!

The resemblance is uncanny!

Heaven forbid we have some fun amidst the offseason, it's much tougher to come by once the games start most years...

I am tired of your pointless jokes. You need to be better like me and stop joking.

Or atleast follow my lead and if you are going to koke, make sure they are not funny

Any insight into where Barbers future is? Wasn't he supposed to be a RT coming out if college and in early camp? Not at all mad about replacing Wyatt Teller with a younger, better and cheaper version, but it'd be something if hes elite at RG, but even better at RT--where he has experience.

They may not yet know themselves. I think he probably plays at least the rest of this season at RG unless their are a lot of tackle injuries and we get desperate.

I think foot speed and arm length was a concern about him playing on the outside. His arm length was in the 16th%. Not ideal for handling outside pass rushers. Guard is where he should stay.

Barber had the 5th highest RAS score of all 2026 OT and the 27th best all time.

  • 11th fastest 40 yard dash for OT at the combine (Fano was #1) ((Brailsford was the 8th fastest OL fwiw))
  • 8th fastest 10 yard split for OT (Fano was #2) ((Brailsford was the fastest OL))
  • 9th Longest broad jump for OT
  • 7th highest vertical for OT
Athleticism wasn't and isn't a concern with him. The arm length is a light concern (33 1/8th) but he's still a full inch longer than Fano. You want at least a 33" arms so he barely meets that minimum. He is tall and played high in college. Combine that with shorter than ideal arms, I'm sure dropped him on some boards. He also struggled against future NFL talents like Mesidor, Bain, and Casius Howell.

Unless something screwy happens, I think Barber is locked at RG for 2026 and 27. In all likelihood we are stuck with Tytus Howard at RT for the 2027 season. After that, I can see them trying Barber at RT but until then he most likely stays at RG

It bears repeating--do not trust last year's combine arm measurements.

It seems that there were issues, with players getting measured shorter there than elsewhere.

Take a good look at our huddle on offense or the sideline during games- Barber is the biggest guy in uniform not named Thanos. My prediction: Coach Warhop decided to plug Barber in to right guard because he is the best lineman outside of the named starters period. Now that he has shown he is more ready than previously thought, T Jenkins is the sixth linemen instead. If Barber, who is certainly a physical profile for right tackle, can make the team better next season as a cheap right tackle on the rookie contract, Howard will be shipped in an off-season trade.
