What is the greatest song of all time?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Guitar - Layla
Drums-In a Gadda Davida

If I had only one song that I could listen to it would be Carry On by Crosby Stills and Nash

I think it goes without saying that it's "Africa" by Toto.

That Weezer cover is the best damn cover I've heard in many years. I saw Weezer's first Cleveland show back in the early 90s. There were like 30 people there because it was a weeknight. Talked to Rivers while he smoked a cig. He was visibly pissed at the turnout. I started to think they were getting a little too self important when "Hash Pipe" and "Island in the Sun" got big. But I take it all back... a Toto cover is just about the least self-important move a band can make. They nailed it.

Super Bass by Nicki Minaj or Levon by Elton John ? I’m torn...

Kyrie by Mr. Mister is a killer tune if you are down with the 80s. Africa is pretty awesome, agree with the above poster. The Mexican by Babe Ruth is another classic, amazing track. It is so hard to pick just one.

I think if I could only listen to 1 song for the rest of my life it would be Walking on a Dream by Empire of the Sun. Not sure why other than it's fantastic.

That or Don't Stop Believin' by Journey.

There's only one correct answer that checks all the correct boxes. You want social commentary? You want to dance to it? You want a killer hook? A trademark line you can shout? You want unexpected alliteration and rhymes? You want storytelling?

In my humble opinion it has to be one of these two:

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven. Enough said.

Johann Sebastian Bach - Toccata & Fugue in D Minor

The case for Bach is that the melody and hook are literally timeless, as evidenced by this arrangement for violin which sounds like the entire piece could have been written today instead of in 1704 when Bach composed it:

Beethoven's 9th, IMO... but dunno if I'd use the term "song" to describe a symphony or even any single movement or part of a symphony.
