Why aren't gyro controls used more often?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not sure about the aim assist when using the thumbstick. Most console shooters use some type of aim assist so I assume it does. I'll give the gyro controls another shot when my game comes Friday. I did read before trying them how great gyro controls were supposed to be but I was really disappointed when I actually used them.
Yeah, they have aim assists because sticks are balls mahoney for precision aiming. Here's a little tip you can do with your phone to practice gyro aiming.

Use a camera app like snapchat that has a software button that's a circle that in unfilled. Pretend that's a crosshair and move it around to try and get objects in it's crosshair. It functions the exact same way as a gryo.

I'd use a gyro that had gyro controls. Is it really all that different from these?

Those controllers look entirely too much like sex toys.

I've tried to use the motion controls on Splatoon 2, but I'm really struggling and have gone back to the sticks. I may try to go back, but it's going to be hard to break almost 20 years of muscle memory.

By the way, Splatoon 2 is pretty great and really beautiful.
