Drafting 0 of them yields you 0 chances to hit on one.

Fair point. The problem is that we have an awful lot of young guys trying to develop on this team already. One of the comments made last night in the game thread was that we need to get rid of guys that don't help Mobley develop. Is adding another developmental wing to the people on the roster really going to help him? I'd imagine that the "developmental wing" minutes on this team already were allocated to Windler and Cedi. That's on top of trying to figure out how Sexland, Okoro, and Markannen all fit together for minutes at the 1-3.

I agree with your basic point. I'm just not sure that this year is the one we wanted to burn assets when we have something of a young-player logjam already.

I think its fine if we replace one of our developmental minutes guys with a wing that needs the mins (say swapping one of our guards for a OG or Cam Reddish type). But I agree with the general sentiment. You only have so many developmental minutes you can really commit. Building a team of only young kids is how you get messes like the early 00s Clippers or the pre-Embiid 76ers.

or the Cavs in '02, '11, '12,'13, '19, '20.

I'm a big fan of having vets blocking your rookies to some extent. Having a pro who a rookie has to earn minutes by playing defense etc.. I thought they could have brought in Old-Head-at-31 James Ennis as the stop gap 3 for half a season to help get the young guys playing right.

This does not seem to be the Cavs theory of development though.

The window to develop those players needs to line up though. I think we are behind with developing wings and having them be ready at the same time as our guards and bigs. We saw that how easily injuries can open up minutes for player last year. We should have been using some of these future second round picks to move into the draft to build better depth so we never needed to turn to Lamar Stevens or Brodric Thomas last season.

I don't think we need to spend big assets on wings but we need better depth than we have now. I'm not against using using Rubio at the deadline to get someone like Cam Reddish in a multi-team trade.

Agree with all this. Only caveat is that I still believe in Lamar. I think he can become a legit wing if he can just add that jumper. He has everything else.

Brodric thomas you will be missed

Huge bust and too damn small to make much of a impact defensively. How does someone this inept offensively get drafted top 5, mind boggling.

I think his fit doesn't make sense for the construction of our team. He might have made sense with KPJ. With just Sexton and Garland, Okoro's weaknesses are amplified because they become areas we really need.

Having him come off the bench is better for his development but I do think we can find a better fit overall to pair with Sexton and Garland as a 3rd guard. I wouldn't give up on him because I think he can develop and carve out a role but at the same time I wouldn't keep clearing the way for him. If we have the opportunity to add the guard that actually makes Sexton and Garland work better, I wouldn't take into account Okoro in that decision at all.

Even more than his lack of shooting I am alarmed by his lack of rebounding. As an energy player he needs to grab more boards esp when none of our starting bigs are good rebounders. Even Sexton outrebounded Okoro tonight 4-2.

Okoro didn't get rebounds last year and didn't do so during his year at Auburn either. In college I just attributed it to him playing with a bunch of upperclassmen but it's becoming a big issue when we are getting outboarded every game by double digits. Allen and Markannen are obviously part of the problem too.

Heard he's a winner

He's a spectator on offense. He just love standing there and watching other players play. JBB and Koby ruined him by letting him play so many minutes last year without earning it. And not sending him to D-league where he can be the man and focus of the offense. Koby and JBB did everything they could to mentally destroy him from the inside out. Same shit they did with Porter Jr. I'm starting to see a trend here. They don't know how to mentally nurture young players.

I haven’t seen anything to indicate Okoro is mentally damaged. Can you cite some instance of this?

I just don see why he wont demand the ball more in the 2nd unit and run PNR
