It's just a coincidence, but I have NBA TV on in the background and Caron Butler has been the co-anchor because he lives in Milwaukee and supported the Buck's decision.

And there is so much young Caron Butler in Okoro's game. Strong, bulldog mentality who gets to the rim. He would be a great, great ceiling for Okoro. Okoro isn't there yet, but can't I see it with Butler on my screen all morning.

I dont follow college ball a ton so I don't really know much about hte draft class beyond the fact that I didn't want Wiseman at one, but man, Caron Butler as a ceiling? That's not terribly exciting? Am I wrong?

For the #5 pick? I'll take a fringe AS player all day especially in a draft that many perceive as weak.

But as his ceiling? Like that's the best he can be, a guy who'll make an all-star game once or twice when his team over-performs. Kinda like Mo Williams.

I dunno I know nothing about Isaac Okoro, I just kinda hope were aiming a little higher. May involve great risk but I think thats worth it.

EDIT: funny enough I actually think he looks like Caron Butler, lol. Face is very similar.

So...this is your moment realizing the draft class of 2020 is the most frustrating group in history. Fans haven't been able to see much of them, most of the top prospects aren't tested by a single college postseason, and many have been secretive and controlling about strengths and weaknesses.

There is a legit chance everyone sucks.

So goddamn 2020. Welcome to the shit show.

He would really need to improve his shooting but Bobby Phills might not be a bad comparison. With hard work he turned himself into a solid pro. Phills was a hard worker who turned himself into a decent shooter too.

Anyone expecting anything other then a solid starter over time with the 5th pick this year is not being realistic. Some years the draft is thin on top tier talent and this is def one of those years. It has been obvious for months, so I am not sure how anyone can be so shocked this late into the summer.

Literally said I know nothing about college ball.

It's right there in the post for you to go read.

Well if you look at raw stats you will see that Okoro will be the first wing in 4 years drafted in the top 20 with under a 20% usage rate and under 30% shooting 3's.

But his handle is actually pretty decent for a wing and he's probably one of the top 10 functional passers in the class which is saying something considering how top heavy it is with PG's. He's a brilliant cutter, a strong driver and rim finisher, and his court vision is better than most. He won't likely become any type of super creator but if he goes to a team that will actually invest time into his shooting (even being a 35% shooter has a lot of value in this league) and is willing to allow him to engage in occasional creation, l think he has real offensive upside.

Will he ever be an offensive star? l highly doubt it, but do think he has enough in the tank to one day be a perfectly solid offensive player in the right situation which is good enough considering his motor and defensive skill.

An over-simplification concept is, sometimes you don't need scorers? I think a hard-nosed kid who has nice length with his reach, to come in and grind could make a smart choice.

In terms of people putting the ball in the hoop, I think he have our fair share of those and Kevin Porter Jr is ONLY going to get better. So a kid like Okoro appeals because he will just play basketball and he does the one thing we are AWFUL trying to do, which is play defense. I personally love Obi in terms of talent but adding a guy who couldn't guard my 46 year old butt isn't where it is at for our team.

Also just to add the offense isn't really that bad. Middle of the pack or slightly better. It is the defense that needs an SOS. I think Okoro has offensive upside simply because he has great basketball IQ.

I can not understand why players can't shoot well. With practice , practice, practice muscle memory kicks in. On summer break even I,not close to an elite athlete, with weighted vest on hit all jump shots with consistency from center to all shots on the right side of basket. Just find it hard to understand why a pro with all the advantages can't learn to shoot. Just amazes me.

It looks like it's between Okoro,Avdija and Vassell....

According to league sources, the Cavaliers are fairly comfortable with selecting between Isaac Okoro, Devin Vassell or Deni Avdija with the fifth overall pick,” Dammarell wrote. “All three of those players make perfect sense for the team as well. The Cavaliers have a dire need for depth on the perimeter and the defensive potential Okoro and Vassell provide is invaluable. But, those same sources also shared that Cleveland is open to trading the pick as well – just as long as it brings back a player that can contribute immediately to the team’s aspirations next season.”
