William Buford

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's had two consecutive Sweet 16 appearances and was the runner up for the tourney 5 years ago... What exactly are you expecting? Ohio State isn't a basketball college, we don't (usually) get the type of recruits that Duke and Kentucky regularly bring in. All that being said, Matta makes the Buckeyes extremely relevant in the tourney. I get the feeling he has a better idea of how to coach his team and run his rotations than you do.

Sweet 16 for a #1 and #2 seed? Very impressive... Just going back to last year, he clearly got outcoached. Buford was as cold as cold gets and was throwing up missed all games. But was he taken out for Thomas? Nope, because Matta needs to play his starters 35+ min. And don't give me this basketball school crap, Matta has the players and he is a great recruiter. But what does that mean when he can't manage the game, especially when it matters most.

What exactly is a basketball school? If having 10 final four appearances, 12 Elite eight appearances, and playing for the National championship 5 times, winning one of them isn't a basketball school then I don't know what is. There's only going to be a handful of teams in the country with a better resume than that.

And yet despite all that, Basketball will forever be No.2 to Football at Ohio State...which is what makes it not a Basketball school

The problem is Buford is clearly struggling, this is the time you bring out some of that talent off the bench. It's not like we will miss Buford's production

As far as history goes yes historically we are not a basketball school, however the big ten has been a strong bball conference in recent memory and OSU has been raking in top recruiting classes. with that said, a national championship is an extremely hard thing to accomplish in ANY sport. We have been relevant more often than not in college hoops since Matta came in. This makes us a basketball power lately and yes we should be doing better than sweet 16 especially with he team we had last year.

He showed up pretty good tonight. Could tell he was taking every shot with confidence and had good off the movement. Now if he could just do that against teams that matter...

Pretty bad game for Buford today. He did go 5-5 from the free throw line though. Sully shit the bed. I'm a big Thomas fan, I know we beat UK last year if he played more minutes instead of Buford. But 10-19 from the line isn't going to get it done. Hope this year is the opposite of past years and the team plays above their regular season level in the tournament.

This is not looking good.

This team peaked in November and doesn't seem to be a cohesive group anymore. Basically anyone not named Craft plays pretty selfishly.

Matta continues to get exposed as well. Even though there is one senior, a team with Craft/Thomas/Sullinger/Buford shouldn't be constantly committing dumb turnovers and missing foul shots at this point in the season. Signs of not being coached well. Apparently he threw the entire team out of practice yesterday. Not a very good dynamic right now and not what you want going into March.

This team will lose in the round of 32. No heart whatsoever. Doesn't help that no one can get Sully easy looks. Although, he looked like a lazy motherfucker today too. Last year was the year to win it all. It will be a while before this program has a team like the one they had last season.

I think they lose in the sweet 16 round.
Thomas has shown that he is the best player on this squad if he can play just Average defensively

Willly B getting wet with the game winner at Sparty

Bucks battled back from 15 down and pulled out the win at the Izzone

GO BUCKS!

Phenomenal ending.

I was about to suggest the Cavs taking Buford with their second 2nd round pick, but that would seem like I am... slightly 'overreacting' to Buford's good game.

He IS shooting over 90% from the FT line which would be great off the bench, to go along with great size and scoring.

Ok, I'm done.
