Cavs to Host FREE Wine & Gold Scrimmage

The Cavaliers’ annual prelude to the tipoff of a new season begins with the team’s intra-squad scrimmage where Wine meets Gold! The Wine & Gold Scrimmage presented by FirstEnergy takes place on Wednesday, October 1st at 7:00 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena — and it’s FREE! It will be the first opportunity for fans to see the 2014-15 Cavaliers roster as the team gets ready for the most anticipated season in franchise history.

Free tickets (a limit of six tickets per person) will be available online at Cavs.com beginning Friday, September 19th at 10:00 a.m. using the convenience of Flash Seats. Flash Seats is the Cavaliers official electronic ticketing system that allows fans to enter Quicken Loans Arena with just a swipe of their electronic ID (typically a credit card or driver’s license). Seating for this event will be general admission.

Doors for the Wine & Gold Scrimmage will open at 5:30 p.m. so fans can enjoy a playground of concourse activities and special offers while taking in the excitement of being “deep in The Q” for Cavs basketball, including:

  • Special items available at FanFare concessions, including $1 sodas, $2 nachos and $2 popcorn
  • Interactive basketball games, including inflatable Pop-a-Shot and Mobile Hoops
  • “Express Yourself” face painting, hair painting and temporary tattoos
  • Sign making stations
The scrimmage will split the current roster into two squads, selected by Cavs Head Coach David Blatt, for two, 20-minute halves. In addition to the action on the court, fans will be treated to a special production of the Cavs’ award-winning game presentation, including performances from the Cavalier Girls and Scream Team, as well as the usual entertaining antics from mascots Moondog and Sir C.C. There will also be many other special fan activities and giveaways both on and off the court during the evening.

PLAYERS TO GIVE LUCKY FANS THE SHIRTS OFF THEIR BACKS!
Taking a page out of the memorable Fan Appreciation Night tradition, all fans in attendance will have a chance to win the opportunity to come down to center court immediately following the Wine & Gold Scrimmage, where Cavs players will personally give away their game-worn practice jerseys! Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to Cavs.com for more information on how to win this incredible experience!

WINE & GOLD SCRIMMAGE LIVE STREAM
The Cavs will stream the Wine & Gold Scrimmage LIVE on cavs.com/live to give ALL fans a chance to check out the Cavs before they tip off the 2014-15 season. Scrimmage is on Oct. 1. Tickets in 4 days.

You know this Cavs team is going to be special when even an intrasquad scrimmage results in a packed house. :chuckle:

I'm not going to miss them holding it in the super-humid conditions of the Baldwin-Wallace gym where they had to end abruptly last year.

What a shit storm of a scrimmage. I blame Potato Head.

Hopefully we don't have a repeat of last year. I'm going to miss feeling concerned for the safety of Tyler Zeller-esque players.
