sochan reminds me of larry nance jr. but i'd rather draft on someone who can potentially be better.

On the poll, I put in Ogbaji. I wouldn't mind Branham or Williams. We need shooting.

I'm a little surprised that people think this 14th pick will make a difference this year. If the player is good he'll be 2nd or 3rd string. Our starting 5 is set with Sexton, Garland, Allen, Mobley, and Markkanen. LeVert will be our sixth man, Okoro our 7th. I can't see anyone we can get cracking that.

Less than 24hrs left, and my realistic favorites for #14 are:

1-Ousmane Dieng
2-Jalen Williams
3-Tari Eason
4-Nicola Jovic
5-Dalen Terry

CONSENSUS TOP 6
Chet Holmgren
Jabari Smith
Paolo Banchero
Jaden Ivey
Keegan Murray
Dyson Daniels
NEXT 5 ALMOST CONSENSUS
Ben Mathurin
Malachi Branham
Jalen Duren
Johnny Davis
Shaedon Sharpe

I think your starting 5 is off. Unless there's a trade, I'll take a gentleman's bet that the starting 5 is DG, Caris, Lauri, Evan and JA, with Sexton, Rubio and Okoro being the backups in the backcourt.

Sexton and Rubio might not even be on the team. We can all take a deep breath on the rotation.

Yeah, it's between Sexton and LeVert. As a coach, I'd give it to Sexton because of his past experience with the team and Garland.

But I'm not a coach.

Definitely, Rubio isn't on the team yet. There are rumors he is coming and Sexton may be traded. But I never believe rumors. They rarely happen. Look how many years Love was rumored to be traded.

Kevin Love was off the trade market for a couple of weeks back in 2014.

I think Sochan has to hope he gets to a team that plays him like the Cavs used Nance after LeBron left. I think if a team uses Sochan like Nance or TT when LeBron was here, as a center, I think he will get run down prematurely like Nance and TT. He needs the opportunities to develop but not have to bang with centers all game long.

Ideally he gets to a team with a stretch 5 so that he play the dunker spot on offense and defend wings or forwards on defense. As Sochan develops his offensive skills, a team can used him inside and out on offense.

He recovered from a dislocated left knee in January of 2020. The sprain last season was a minor one in his right. Just out for accuracy at this point.
Yes you are correct and that's what I get for going off memory. Thx for the clarification.
It's a little concerning to see the knee injuries in a 19 year old kid esp when you can see a noticeable decline in athleticism.

Rubio won't be ready to play at the beginning of the season. I'm not sure its wise to throw him a contract before he is ready to play. You never know if he could have a set back or just not be ready on time and we burn a roster spot on him.

I still want to draft a backup PG at #39 and let that player at least show what they has in camp. It's going to be hard to find a free agent vet that is willing to be a place holder for Rubio and slot down to the 3rd PG spot when Rubio is healthy.

I know someone said that he dislocated his knee. I dislocated my elbow when I was younger and it was never the same. I had a friend that dislocated his knee and he basically said the same thing. I was also told by doctors that's once you dislocate it once that it can happen repeatedly. Thankfully it has never happened again but it was the most blinding pain I've ever felt.

I think some are sleeping on Branham. Sure, it would be nice to have a 6'8"-6'10" wing, but would an elite developing SG prospect be so bad? Branham is only 1 inch short of Kobe and MJ in height and wing span, and he's 19.

I've got my eye on quite a few prospects that could be available in our range. From Griffin to Dieng, Davis, Eason, etc. So many intriguing options.

One thing I do love about Branham is he can be a ballhandler and not simply a catch and shoot threat.

Was watching the NBA TV Mock draft and they have him going to the Knicks at 10

Branham didn't work out for the Cavs, just interview. I'm guessing there's a guarantee somewhere high.
