It’s awkward for sure. They shouldn’t be messing with theses kids and their families on such a big night for them. Don’t make them parade around in a team hat, knowing that they aren’t gonna play for them. It’s one of the things I hate about the NBA draft.

Weird. I love it. I've never heard any player or family complain about it. It's one of those things that makes the NBA draft the NBA draft.

I’ve heard plenty of people complain about it. I guess you enjoy those awkward moments and messing with draftees on their big night. To each their own…

It's not really messing with them at all. Unless the draftee is a brain dead idiot. Their agents inform them what team they are going too. And the team that they are going to be playing for still make the call. So really it's just them wearing the wrong hat for a little while. It literally hurts no one.

Orlando has played things close to the vest. They love length, which would point to Holmgren, who was high school teammates with their first round pick from a year ago, Jalen Suggs.

It seemed to be a two-horse race, so I don’t know what to make of these late Banchero rumors. It may just indicate that no one knows and Vegas is hedging their bets.

The Suggs-Holmgren connection is incredibly strong. If Suggs had had a better rookie year and was more clearly their PG of the future I would put a lot of weight on it…but not sure how important his desires will be to the Magic

Rumor is that Holmgren doesn't want to go to Orlando. So I wonder if Suggs told him something to make Holmgren have no interest in going to Magic. But Magic do make some out of nowhere picks. I remember they took Franz Wagner last year and no one expected him to be their pick at 8.

Jalen Wiliams is already over 21.... it's really unlikely that he grows anymore, compared to some of the other players on this list.

Williams' age generally makes me hesitant to pick him but the fact he had such a huge growth spurt entering college may mean he has more room to improve as a player.

While Williams is a junior, he’s a relatively young junior.. He’s actually younger sophomores Keegan Murray, a month older than Tari Eason, and within a few months of TyTy Washington (freshman), Walked Kessler (sophomore) and Marjon Beauchamp..

I'm just saying - there's something like a 20% chance that Sochan was a better 3PT shooter than Eason this year -- and was just unlucky while Eason was lucky.

That's only true if you discount any relation between free throw percentage and 3-point percentage. But if there is any correlation there, then the chance is actually better free throw shooter is less than 20%.

In any case, there's always uncertainty in the draft, so I'll go with the 80% chance over the 20% chance any day of the week.

That being said, Sochan may still be a better prospect overall than Eason. It's just that with respect to shooting, Eason is better.

That's great. But Agbaji went to Kansas. He's the most popular name linked to us in recent days in mock drafts.
And Cleveland is right there in Kansas! See what I mean, always tying us to the local guys

I know this probably really goes against a lot of consensus but this is what I would believe to be true, if you are trying to project outcomes from profiles. Post combine, I'd probably land here if someone made me finally rank all these guys.

Chet, he's just the #1 player. The stuff about Paolo / Smith going #1 would be wild to me. Chet has been the #1 guy in his class pretty much his whole life and his performance at every level has done nothing to change that. Very much overthinking if Orlando doesn't take him.

Tier 2.......I honestly think Tier 2 is big. I see this as very small everywhere else, but I'd buy an argument for taking any of these players #2. Does that match the traditional group think......no it does not but all have really redeeming analytical qualities.......and guys like Eason / Williams / Ivey add in special physical qualities as well that are tough to ignore. I also think Griffin is firmly in this conversation without a knee red flag.

Tier 3......I haven't talked about him much but Liddell is probably the very quiet riser of this middle pocket. He has two years of plus production and he tested out far better than expected. I think I have talked about both Moore and Minott.......guys I think are really undervalued relative to an NBA projection.

Rocks.......I am well below consensus on Ochai, Branham, Davis. All 3 need to buck a pretty strong modeling trend (especially for considered lottery picks).

At #39......I would hope 2-3 guys from T4 would be there. My personal favorite being Roddy......although he may have worked out too well from what I have seen. #2 on my wish list would be someone like Vince Williams Jr. (I say those two names expecting guys like Ochai, Davis, etc. will be gone from that tier). Just to curb anyone veering off there. :chuckle:

Are you talking about the Vegas odds? Orlando is unpredictable and it seems some people are putting money on Banchero. I still think it’s Smith or Holmgren, but we shall see.

Most of these books are in sync to reduce any arbitrage.

My guess someone respected bought Banchero at the plus odds and it freaked out the market. Low volume on that market itself and a big Banchero bet got exposed.

Browns season win total got taken down before the last few Watson accused came forward.

Don't think he has any record of breaking NBA stuff but it keeps getting re-tweeted by reporter types

Would be a nice pick. And it wouldn't be Agbaji. So that would be a big win.

Who is this Chopz? Is he as reliable as Stainbrook?
