I spend 75% of my time here on the Browns forum, it has the best discussion of a anywhere I've been to talk football. I used to be a regular at dawgtalkers but these days you have to be an old white republican to fit in over there and their political ideology leaks into every other discussion on that board. I couldn't take it any more.

I used to go there for browns discussion and come here for cavs and poop threads, now I just get it all here. If the post quality wasn't up to par I would have not made the switch, I think we could expand and still keep the quality in tact. If we had a browns front page/blog I'd love to write for it, I was an English major at one point in my life and always enjoyed writing.

I spend 99% of my time in Browns, Indians, Buckeyes and off topic areas. The Cavs Sections are all circle jerks by people who think they know everything. That and the cavs stink, and right now they are in 3rd place in Cleveland sports teams.

That, and I never ever go to www.realcavsfans.com

I've spent the past two days wondering if the thread has run its course... now Chardon started posting... not good...

If anyone actually wants to stick to the subject of building the site, by all means post something.

I think at the very least, the Tribe and Browns should get their own "Game Day" subforum. Especially the Tribe. It gets really crowded in there with the by-series threads we have. I've noticed that we really don't have much discussion outside of the gamethreads in at least the Tribe section during the season because the game threads themselves take up a good 90% of the page of threads.

I support the decision Ben made. I like the site as is. As a season ticket holder for the Browns I have first hand knowledge how annoying and obnoxious 75% of them are. The board is better off not getting overrun by Cribbs GOAT?! threads.

I'm all for expanding the Browns section especially since many other Browns forums I've used to frequent had only veteran members posting with derision towards non majority held opinions or forums that were near barren with activity.

This site stands for quality and I would love that same standard of quality helping the Browns sections here.

This echoes my sentiments as well. If there ever was an expanded Browns site I'd help out in any way I could and I have a friend who is in English major who would love to write articles on the Browns.

I'm going to add a Browns section and Indians section subforums just like the Cavs. I'll need graphics made and Infante is just too busy with his real job to bother. Anyone with TALENT mind making them? Should look like the ones already designed.

The issue in my mind is that having one section for the Browns is not conducive for detailed threads. There is just not enough space. Each individual topic would just clutter the current Browns thread, or become buried and not be discussed.

Expanding the subforums seems like the best move here to encourage growth.

This website has a lot of potential for expansion. Most of the regular posters here are more knowledgeable than certain analysts from ESPN and other major networks and by far more knowledgeable than their bloggers as well other sites like the Bleacher Report.

The problem with the average fan is that they have no comprehension of the difficulties of running a sports franchise as well as the nuances of satisfying the CBA in terms of trade requirements, cap rules, ... etc. Now is that because they don't care to know this information? I don't think so. I think it is because they are not being presented this information at all.

Having a website with low cost, user generated content (like BR except the content is actually intelligent) could be very profitable. The endgame in my mind would be detailed player profiles and updated articles relating to a majority of players as well as their fit on various teams based on schemes and salary considerations. All of this generated through a collaboration of knowledgeable fans from all sports franchises. Know this is a very long way off from becoming a reality, however the information in the Cavs forum is almost to the level I would envision in the above model with tweaks pertaining how to link this content into a larger global database.

There are enough knowledgeable fans on the internet that collectively have a certain level interest in almost every player available. For instance, players from UC are interesting to me, and I have seen them play quite a bit in college. Therefore I would do write ups on each player of interest. These write ups would get added to a database where the visiting user can read about players he is interested in. Each write up would clearly illustrate the bias involved. For instance, write ups by me would have a Browns background, while write ups from another knowledgeable fan would have backgrounds from his preferred franchises easily illustrating the bias and viewpoint of the author. The question is how to merge this content into one centralized database.

I know it would be a lot of work, but it is something that I think could be very successful. I think the ESPN model is wrong. I think fans want to be knowledgeable. I think they want to read about detailed analysis and make their view points, instead of being spoon fed what they should think by people who have no clue what they are talking about. A website generating content in the fashion I described spreads out the burden of coverage to allow very intelligent detailed articles.

And don't kid yourselves, there are a lot of people out there that would generate this content for just the pure enjoyment of being a fan. Maybe throw exceptional posters tickets/press passes if and when this idea comes to fruition. Perhaps eventually they could wiggle their way into the press conferences and start asking questions legitimate sports fans are interested in instead of all the bullshit fluff and filth that gets tossed around by some of these incompetent beat writers.

Sorry I've been rambling, but it's just what I have been thinking about for a while. I would love to be a part of something like that in the future, and would be willing to invest in it after I finish up my doctorate and start making the big bucks.

Edit: To expand on the bolded part. Having articles written that illustrate the struggles of the franchise would probably be kindly viewed upon by the franchises themselves. This would encourage franchises to leak information to a site that sympathizes with their franchise specific struggles instead of criticizing them for not throwing money around at players like the Yankees or Lakers.

Re: Would You Like To See RCF Expand It's Browns Coverage?

Hey Ben, I was brought to this site by a friend of mine and a frequent reader of your site. I am a local editor and I would really like to see expanded coverage for the Browns. I also volunteer to write for it and you can reach me at the email address associated with my account.

I'm hearing a lot of rumblings about people who are outraged at the idea that I wouldn't be courted for a sub-sub section moderation spot. The natives are getting restless. Ben, look in my inbox and you can see I've got a multitude of PMs asking about this.

My request and the request of ones of others remain that I be held responsible and be given privileges associated solely within that sub-sub forum.

With all this run-around, I'm not certain I'm even going to accept when the offer comes along.

For fuck's sake, don't even expand if we're going to have this joker demanding stupid shit like this.

God. Do we really need a pink themed subforum called "Jiggles Land"? We already know it's going to be run with a firm, yet soft and caressing hand. I'm guessing the subforum will have some very weird macabre feel to it mixed with a dash of Liberace.

If he is granted this subforum, I strongly recommend only users with 1000 posts should be able to view it. By that time they will be broken and accepting of the schenanagins that goes on in there. If rookie users ever saw the thread with out being desensitised they would be scared for life. The emotional damage would permeate through humanity and the results would be catastrophic. This isn't Pandora's box we are talking about. This is far far worse than that. This is Jigo's box. We should be afraid. Very very afraid.

I sense the sub forums name in this post

It's been officialized by wuck and MoFlo. We just went over the parameters and guidelines of my responsibilities and limitations. I think it'll be very beneficial to both sides and I'm pumped to get going.

You guys will have nothing to worry about. This is going to be a low traffic area that is intentionally designed for nobody to visit it. It'll be like an unincorporated area that you won't realize you're passing through when you're in it. It'll be almost like Tor. Keep an eye out for new sections to be added. I'll be the moderator of one of them. The sub-sub forum name will have nothing to do with my handle, per my request.

Thanks wuck and MoFlo for your consideration!
