MEMPHIS -- For anyone who has followed Lorenzen Wright's career, who has seen him play, who knows his story, the police report makes for hard reading.

"Wright entered the house, he approached his wife and began to yell and scream at her about another man being there with her."

Ohhhh, Lorenzen.

"Wright then left the room where his wife had been and kicked open the door to the bedroom where ... Larry Jones, age 3, was sleeping."

A 3-year-old?

"Wright then went to another bedroom, where Travis Sentell Hughes was sitting and pointed the handgun toward Hughes head, asking Hughes who he was."

And so it goes. Hard, hard, reading.

You'd have to be naive not to have expected this kind of story about a Grizzlies player at some point.

But whoever thought the player would be Lorenzen Wright?

Citizen of Memphis. Former Tiger. Doting husband and father.

And now, alas, the first Grizzlies player caught up in allegations of domestic violence.

"Officers observed scratches across her lower left jaw and a deep cut on her left hand," the report said. "When officers requested she at least sign a domestic violence hold-harmless form, she refused, saying she did not want to file any charges."

So who knows what will come of all this? In fairness to Wright, a report is not the same as a conviction.

This is what the police filed. This is what the police then tried to hide by excluding it from the department's computerized database.

A police spokesman said it was all part of a new policy designed to keep domestic violence complaints private.

But the original report said, explicitly, that the case should be handled by an informal memo instead of a formal incident report because of "Wright's presence."

Memo to police: It's really not your job to protect Wright's trade value.

That's a task for the Grizzlies, and Wright sure hasn't helped out this summer.

Sounds like he went Billy Jack crazy. He was right up there with Eric Snow as one of the NBA good guys. I'm sure Portland's already on the phone trying to trade for him.

wow. i dont care who you are but if their was another man in the bedroom, you would want to, you know, take it out.

Weird story....where did the handgun come from? Was he arrested? Did he kick the ass of the dude riding his wife? Lot of pieces here left unexplained. IMO, something like this should not be used against his character. Hopefully he leaves her.

the way that the article was wrote, was very confusing and hard to follow. Im not sure i really understand whats going on.
