WWE/NXT/AEW/NJPW Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Stacked card tonight and CM Punk's likely debut on Friday. Shaping up to be a nice week.

Lets hope AEW isn't done adding. Daniel Bryan, Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman are key guys that makes the wrestling world go round along with Punk. Maybe not so much Braun but put him in the right situation and he's good.

CM Punk for future World Champ, Bryan future TNT Champ.

I don't know what WWE was thinking letting Bray leave. He was over. Just never got writing go his way (in the end).

They got lazy. They absolutely could do what AEW is doing but it seems like instead of evolving, they plan to go further into the void by focusing on beefcakes...

I think Punk may challenge for it in a month or two, but I don't think he should win especially if Page is the champion.

Just wondering how Adam Page fits into the picture right now because he's ready for that big title run and Omega should definitely be the one he beats for the title.

Punk is the hottest attraction in wrestling and needs to be top of the card now to really capitalize on his return.

It's honestly a great dilemma for AEW.

The Goldberg stuff... everybody but Vince knows to let that sleeping dog lie. I'm sure the CM Punk pop is generating a buzz in the WWE organization and they're going to turn to The Rock. They'll ask Rock to put Reigns over at 'Mania and pass the torch.

But Reigns (heel or face) just doesn't do it for people. Lashley... Hurt Business was cool, but they broke them up and he's becoming stale. The WWE programming has been stale for a long time.

If you're in your 30's, you know the nWo was game changing. You know Stone Cold and Rock brought the house down.

But CM Punk last night was right there. That was a moment to remember. His entrance was the #1 trend at 3 million views, his promo was #2 trending at another 3 million views.

I'm pretty excited for pro wrestling and storytelling like it's 1997 again.

Pretty sure Daniel Bryan is a done deal and he’s debuting in NYC at AEW’s stadium show there next month

Meltzer is reporting that Bray Wyatt is expected to sign there when his non-compete clause expires

Braun’s non-compete clause expires days before All Out (Sept. 5) and i’m getting the sense he’ll join Bray in AEW too and I also think they’re gonna lead the Dark Order

Bray Wyatt’s release was the final straw for me. WWE has consistently failed creating entertaining characters and leaned on nostalgia as a crutch and quick fix to pimp out their product ahead of network contracts. Then they have an incredible one of a kind character in Bray Wyatt created by the talent and they let that go.

What is there on WWE programming that has even a modicum of compelling television? Edge/Rollins? Cena/Reigns? Lashley isn’t interesting. I’m tired of Goldberg coming in and taking high profile matches. He isn’t interesting either. The Fiend was the hottest thing going and like Punk 10 years ago they wasted it.

This huge CM Punk mark is taking his interest to AEW where it belongs.

I agree with everything outside of Reigns. I actually think people are really enjoying the role. Might be one of the only things WWE is doing decently right now. They're legit trying to go back to 80s wrestling by the looks of things.

But then you see things like what happened to Bianca last night. I will say that was probably one of the worst PPVs I've seen in a long time. Edge/Rollins was the only passable match IMO.

AEW has an opportunity to take over (no pun intended) and I'm here for it. Outside of the Up Up Down Down crew (Xavier, Adam Cole, Cesaro) and a few more people, I don't care about the WWE. Like, look at what they're doing to Alexa Bliss... And they expect people to try and make their garbage ideas work. It's horrid. If I were a WWE wrestler, I'd do whatever it took to move to AEW and be happy.

Yeah, granted I haven't really been watching any wrestling regularly the past year and a half, as the lack of crowds really took me out of it, but from what I've seen, Reigns has been crushing the heel role. It's the role he was always destined to play because he already looks like a douchebag, and clearly he's significantly better at acting like one than he was at reciting Vince's shitty good guy promos for children. The crime here is that they tried pushing him for half a decade as a face and ruined multiple Wrestlemania main events in the name of making him the next Cena only to finally make him a heel during a pandemic where there were no crowds on hand to truly appreciate it.

Romain definitely reminds me of a movie villain. The company is so boned when he eventually moves on to bigger and better things. Him, Rollins, maybe McIntyre and Becky Lynch are their biggest stars but they can't carry this shitshow forever.

Vince is the single variable that hasn't changed this whole time. Company needs a new power structure so badly.
