WWE/NXT/AEW/NJPW Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We got worked

So the rumours are that he did actually walk out, and the writers scrambled for multiple endings of Smackdown. They were able to cool things over with Brock and he just featured for about 5 minutes vs apparently being part of the whole show.

I do agree NXT was booked well for a long period of time, but there are some key contextual points missing there.

For the vast majority of the time Triple H was booking NXT, 2014 until late 2019, it was a one-hour taped show. It’s significanty easier to book a 1 hour a week pre-tape than it is to book 3 hours (in AEWs case) or 5 hours (in WWE main roster’s case) every week.

On top of that, AEW didn’t even exist during most of NXT’s hey day, so Triple H had the benefit of being able to sign and work with a ton of high end indie talent that probably would have never even signed with WWE in the first place if AEW had been an option in 2014-2018.

That said, if they announced publicly they were gonna do a hard reset and all creative would run through HHH and Michaels, I’d probably give it a look.

I think the most impressive thing with NXT was how many people they were able to make look like genuine stars within an hour. And I find the same with AEW. Whereas there is so much 50/50 booking in WWE main roster stuff, they are only able to make a few people look dominant. And even then, after a while it seems like they get bored and then feed those guys to Brock or Roman and that's that.

@Kbiz

Definitely getting return of Undisputed Era

Possibly getting the return of Kenny Omega…

Everyone getting healthy should make for a fun fall. I'd pop hard if Omega returns next week at the Columbus show.

With that said, I absolutely loved Dynamite pushing its homegrown talent last night. Starks, Jungle Boy, and Garcia all had career nights respectively. The glut of legitimate young talent AEW has isn't fair.

Starks is a bonafide star. Excited for him to finally be getting a meaningful feud.

Yuta vs Jericho with the title shot on the line should be a good one

Down the road I would absolutely love to see a baby face Starks take the title off a heel Punk. Starks just has that aura man.

He really does and he nails all the little things between moves to keep you engaged in the match. He has one of the best looking spears I've seen in recent memory.

Figured I'll sit through a whole Raw since they're in Cleveland, goddamn this show sucks.

HHH has his work cut out for him.

No suspense/drama/story telling at all. At least not tonight anyways. With exception to Dom Mysterio possible heel turn.

Imagine paying for a ticket and you don't even get a World Heavyweight champion present to do whatever the fuck.

We used to line up for tix way ahead of time to see Austin, Rock, Taker, HHH, Shamrock, Hardys, Dudleys, Foley, Edge, Outlaws, Kane, what a huge drop off.

This Raw in Cleveland got hosed

3 hours is just too long.

I went with family. The roster is just depleted compared to 5 or 10 years ago. They need to completely revamp so many bad characters and gimmicks just on Raw alone...

Ciampa is the real deal though.

I felt a character development story with him too other than Dom. They milked him for as long as they could in NXT and brought him up late. Glad he's not getting squashed. There's movement with him for sure.

Roster is beyond depleted though, when HHH is co main eventing Dolph Ziggler and main eventing The Miz, there's something wrong. Yea I get they are Cleveland natives, but they aren't guys you're just dying to watch wrestle and entertain you for the finish.

Need some new blood, so much potential with Bron Steiner, if they ever want to call him that.

This sums it up really well. We were about to leave, but could see them bringing out a hooded person from around the back before the main event. (our seats were right infront of the production crew).

Turned out to be Dexter Lumis :chuckle:

At least I know we’ll be seeing a lot more wrestling under HHH. That’s a big step in getting more performers over.

One of the final Vinnie episodes of Smackdown had a total of 11 in-ring minutes.

Miz/Styles No DQ was a good main event that they had been building to, Ziggler/Gable was a heck of a wrestling match between two guys who will hopefully continue to be featured, and I loved seeing Ciampa go toe to toe with Lashley for the US Title (which now feels important). Rollins/Dawkins was a good opener after a great Rollins/Ford match last week.

Lumis is pretty meh for me, so is Karrion Kross, but at least it’s fresh. Definitely seems like they’re building to a Gargano return.

Like the Bayley/IO/Dakota stable, and the return of Kevin Owens, the prizefighter.

Don’t care for how they still make the MITB holder look like a chump, Liv tapping to Ronda with a distracted ref, and the women’s tag title tourney is lackluster as hell. Although they’re probably just building to IO/Dakota winning and being confronted by a returning Sasha/Naomi.
