The AEW/WWE rivalry is just a work. No, I’m not saying they have a partnership of anything, but their goal is undoubtedly to co-exist.
There’s too much talent for one company to feature. There needs to be multiple companies with programming throughout the week to get these guys proper TV time.
As much as I’m loving the AEW product right now, there is still an extensive list of talented athletes on the WWE roster, and not nearly enough room in AEW for all of them.
AEW is still young and in the talent acquisition phase, but eventually they’ll get to the point where they have to trim the fat, possibly expand programming, and inevitably, they’ll still have talented guys that are being underutilized.
My hope is that WWE sees the success AEW is having with their booking, promos, and production-style, and they take some notes to improve their product. Who wouldn’t want to see Seth Rollins, Matt Riddle, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, Pete Dunne, WALTER, AJ Styles, Ricochet, or any other talented guy be given the freedom to blow the roof off in a 25-30 minute match instead of the 10-15 minute cookie cutter events they’re currently putting on?
AEW does a great job making every match and feud feel important. WWE does too much throwaway stuff that would make you think they’re pressed for time when they actually have 7 hours of primetime TV each week to tell their stories.
