Xbox One + 40" Samsung TV = $499.98 @ BB

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is a pretty crazy deal for those interested, I wonder who's the one losing the money on that combo, my guess Microsoft.

From what I've read on GaF MS is covering the difference on the TV upto a certain %

Looks like the deal is over.

It was supposed to run for a week, until the 15th

Wouldn't be surprised if they sold way more than they were anticipating though.

Yeah most people on Gaf are saying they're being turned away for rain checks now. Hopefully they do get more stock in today.

This Samsung TV is pretty solid though. It's a smart TV so it has all the streaming apps, a web browser, built in wifi.. Pretty good picture quality too after I calibrated it. I was worried for a second. Then I remembered companies ship HDTVs with the sharpness set to 100 for some reason. How about 6? Picture looks great now. The sound is absolute shit, but that's pretty standard.

And as a plasma guy, the blacks on this set are way better than I expected. That's the main reason(and motion blur) I've stayed away from LCD/LED technology but I see they've come a long way.

Can't really beat that for $150.

Nobody. Ever. Not if something is a good product anyways. Unless they're going out of business or flat out can't sell a product.

Otherwise, the only way companies "lose" money is if they're making it up somewhere else...or inventing what the price of the item "should" be.

Good man!

Plasmas were still the best until OLED.

I've still got a 42" 1080p plasma in my living room that I've had for like eight years now. It's enormous by modern standards (and heavy as hell, but I haven't moved in four years so whatever), but it still looks great. The only reason I'd replace it would be to go with a larger TV, but the way my living room is set up doesn't really require anything bigger. The couch is only about six feet from the TV as it is.

No motion blur issues.
No motion resolution issues.
True blacks.
Best contrast outside of high-end OLEDs.

Great technology. But the few folks who would get burn-in from leaving shit on their screens for hours during that initial "burn-in period" really hurt the plasma TV market.

Yeah, I really have no complaints other than the size of the TV itself. The thing is an absolute monster. I can lift my ~30" computer monitor with one hand. It takes two people to carry that fucking plasma even though the screen itself isn't much bigger. It's heavy as hell.

Just a product of being older, though.

My 2 main TVs are 50" Panasonic 720p plasmas. They're about 100lbs each, but still hold their own re: picture quality, black levels, etc with most of the newest sets available today.

LOL at your old piece of shit TVs.

If your TV is any older than 2 months, you're a tool.

This, coming from the guy who just tried to sell @Damage one of those gaudy-ass, oak, 20 year old "entertainment centers" for $3k last week.

:chuckle:

Hell, I bet you've still got one of those old 350lb 36" CRT TVs in it.
