Yahoo: Why the OSU case is worse than that of USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You mean you're biased.

I'll give you that I am biased. That doesn't stop me from looking at both sides and just not agreeing with you. I see the credibility leaning in Ohio State's favor. I am making the choice, albeit with a bit of bias, to not put much stock into what those two former players have said. I understand how a fraternity works, but I honestly am going to take the word over a current player or former player because they just don't have any reason to go after the university, I think that Small and Clarett have some "character recouperation" needs. Why did Small go into hiding and retract his statements? Do you think that OSU is some kind of "Skulls" operation? Pretty far fetched if you do, certainly more than my believing the majority of player accounts.

To go through my train of thought. I saw that Tressel was accused in December of the wrong-doings. I didn't like it and I was in a bit of denial. I didn't think that he should've lost his job, but that is because I never paid attention to the fact that every coach who has ever committed that violation is no longer working with the same program. I made that connection and accepted the reality of it, not happy, but that is because I liked Tressel as a coach and I liked that he was one of the only coaches to teach a class.

Numerous reports start coming out like it is some kind of dart game, each report hoping to hit the bulls-eye. I got defensive (and still am) because it is ridiculous that reporters are looking in every crevice for a story. SI comes out with unnamed sources and I didn't buy it at all. I can see why I didn't, I was looking for holes, holes that I found by realizing that these were criminals connected to a drug ring being interviewed. I can see why you did, you were looking for affirmation to there being more than just smoke.

It is a self serving bias and we're both guilty of it. I can admit that, but I still think that you're seeing ghosts and I'm seeing what is in front of my face.

Your love for OSU is clouding your judgement. If this was U of M you'd be ready to put them on the chair.

I want to put this to rest. I am not a rabid U of M hater, I lived with two U of M fans in college. I don't like the team, but I respect the rivalry. I am actually more lenient when it comes to looking at other programs (except the SEC and Oregon in this case because of the ignorance in reporting). For example, I thought that the practice issues Rich Rod has last year were pretty petty.

Strike two on your assumptions of me.

Right, because who better to be objective than OSU's arch-rival's fanbase.

I suppose you'd want to gauge an objective opinion about OJ Simpson from Fred Goldman?

Perhaps discuss the finer points of the Bill Clinton scandal with Newt Gingrich?

I was objective and you bashed me. I have no hate towards OSU.

PS, i actually briefly worked next to Fred Goldman. Our desks were right next to each other.

Are you also the poster "The Optomist?" Your response is to a post NOT directed at you. Heck, I looked all the way back through this thread and the last posts by you are from over a month ago. What's up?

Just defending that not only OSU haters saw this going bad. I remember way back when most osu homers thought this was no big deal and Tressell was going to be just fine.

That's cool, but I'm not a U of M fan.
