Thank goodness the State of Ohio has a team getting ready to compete and perform as one of the BEST on stage real damn soon.

I think November 11 is the first game. I'm getting stoked for this season.

One question I have is who will be the 5th starter this year?

Sullinger
Craft
Buford
Thomas

I assume those 4 are starters. Here's the rest of the roster:

THE STARTERS

C/F Jared Sullinger, 6-9, 265, sophomore

F DeShaun Thomas, 6-7, 225, sophomore

F/G William Buford, 6-6, 220, senior

G Aaron Craft, 6-2, 190, sophomore

The rest of the rotation, in order of potential contribution:

G Shannon Scott, 6-1, 180, freshman

C Amir Williams, 6-11, 220, freshman

F Sam Thompson, 6-7, 190, freshman

G Jordan Sibert, 6-4, 185, sophomore

F Evan Ravenel, 6-8, 260, junior

G Lenzelle Smith, 6-4, 205, sophomore

F J.D. Weatherspoon, 6-6, 215, sophomore

C Trey McDonald, 6-8, 225, freshman

Sullinger is looking mean and lean these days. :)

Early pre-conference games against Florida, Kansas and of course Duke in the B10/ACC challenge.

Let's hope Matta can finally get some depth on his bench so he isn't forced to play the same seven guys all season.

It makes me wonder what type of offense we have. Do we start one of the big freshmen? If so, do we have like a high/low post thing going on? Sullinger high. Big man low? Depending on who the 5th starter is will tell us how the offense might look.

Gonna have a hell of a schedule this year. Games against Florida, Duke, Kansas, and 2 each against teams in our conference -- Michigan State, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana.

And by the way, the first game is November 11 at 9 PM in Columbus against Wright State.

As long as Matta is coaching we won't get past the sweet 16. The guy can recruit with the best of them...but in-game coaching? I hate him. If we had someone like Izzo or Calhoun, with the talnt we had the past two seasons, we atleast go final four.

What's the outlook for this season guys? Do e have something to look forward to watching finally?

I mean, it sucks they got bounced last year. But it's hard to argue with the fact he's already been past the sweet 16 twice.

Matta and Izzo have each been past the sweet 16 just twice since 2005.

Okay, and we need to keep recruiting. Our team is so young which is good, but no point in ditching him if we don't get to the Final Four. Unless we can get a high-profile coach (which now-a-days I would say Matta is close to among them) we stick with him.

PG Craft
SG Buford
SF Thomas
PF Sullinger
C Williams

Prediction: Matta and the Buckeyes will dominate the regular season and then shit the bed in the tournament again. The only team Matta has gotten into the final four, he had a crazy talented team with two top 5 picks. There aren't two top 5 picks on this team, Matta isn't a tourny coach.

I don't think Williams is going to start. I would think we'll see a three guard set with Craft, Buford and either Jordan Sibert or Shannon Scott.

Don't expect Amir to start.. Matta usually likes smaller lineups with better shooting, but I still wouldn't be surprised if he did start Amir. Would love to see Sullinger at PF more, instead of playing center all the time. Either way he's going to play good minutes.

Sucks that LaQuinton Ross was ruled ineligible, would have finally given OSU some depth so Matta could stop playing his starters 40 minutes a game. But he should be back later in the year, if he can get cleared. Not sold on Sibert, but Sam Thompson is interesting. Not much shooting there but he's a play maker, with great athleticism.

Can't wait to see Craft play fullcourt defense like I like to do. Love that guy. :chuckles:
