I'd really like to, for the more plugged in board members please let me know your thoughts?

I believe Frye could be a 18 ppg 10 rb guy as a starter and eventually replace Z as the C on this team.

Could he be had from Portland for say...Boobie?

I'm just looking at the options for the big men and see the FAs or guys on the block (Brand, Oneal, etc) and then potentially drafting a young guy and I see pitfalls with both scenarios. Why not compromise and get the young guy with potential, but also has experience? I think it's a consensus that we need some new low post blood next year.

Frye averaged in 23 minutes 10 points and 6 rbs as a starter this year in Portland and went for 12 and 5 as a rookie in NYC.

Thoughts?

Portland would take Channing Frye for Boobie, and then throw in their left testicles. Gibson has more value in the league than Frye because Frye is soft on the boards and does almost all of his scoring from midrange. His lack of aggressiveness makes him pretty useless on the low block. Most concerning is the fact thathe doesn't seem to like body contact.

He is a nice third or fourth big, but aggressiveness and is usually not a trait that arrives later on in a career. I'd usually argue in favor of trading a sixth man guard for a big, but this big isn't a good enough fit.

is gibson a tag along to james for the rest of his career. are they that tight?

I'd definitely consider a deal for Frye -- and I'm pretty certain that Portland would too. Keep in mind that this is a team that will be starting Lamarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden at the PF/C positions for the next 5-10 years. Frye clearly is expendable from Portland's perspective and I'd agree he might be a decent option here. But no, I wouldn't trade Gibson for him. I would deal Anderson and perhaps another ending contract for Frye, one of their draft picks and maybe a bad contract -- something they might consider. They have too many players under contract next season and have four or five draft picks. I'd love to get one of them.

Unless one of our current big men is traded, having to give up some value for him to be our 5th big man is not a smart thing to do... Plus there are much better options through the draft than Channing Frye... And we wouldn't have to give up anything to get them...

Who is a better option at spot 19?

I question that...
