Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Honestly, that lost development time might’ve been exactly what he needed— i.e. time to revamp his hitting mechanics.

Have you seen him yet? Looks fantastic. Drastically different at the dish right now. Like he’s unrecognizable when he gets into the box.

His stance is WAY different now- closed off and very upright. Much shorter to the ball too. Very quiet upper body mechanics. Looks a lot like Naquin.

Looks completely re-worked.

Saw his swings from yesterday, and I'm totally on board.

But "Zimmer, if healthy" is a phrase I'm tired of saying, he's got to just do it already.

Salazar was placed on the 10 day IL, but that was longer than 10 days ago. Anybody have an update?

He has a rehab start scheduled with a coach pitch league in Tampa. If all goes well, he may get to throw again in nine months.

Any video of his new swing?

Should the Tribe make the playoffs as a Wild Card team, Clevinger or Bieber would be the starting pitcher. If the
team were fortunate enough to advance to the ALDS, that WC starter would not be available to start again(assuming
regular rest) until game 5, They would have to go on 3 days rest to go in Game 4.

As well as the bullpen has performed for most of the season, I have serious doubts about their
effectiveness if exposed to an upper echelon opponent for multiple innings over 3-5 games in a one
week span.

I hope Francona doesn't have quite as quick a hook for the starters this time around and that
the starters can make that choice easier.

Not having a power arm out of the bullpen is going to be a huge obstacle to overcome in the
postseason.

As tough as it is, Hand is going to be the closer. There is no one else in the current bullpen who
would make me feel much more confident when the chips are really down.

I like the fact that winning the division means something so impactful. I'm not so hot on the Tribe being
one of the teams seriously in consideration for starting off behind the eight ball.

But if the Tribe gets to the postseason, there's always a chance to break the curse. Still have to play
the games and it only takes a couple of hot players to turn a series .

Go Tribe!

Postseason dates are already set. AL Wild Card game is Weds 10/2.

4 days of rest means that starter could go again on Monday 10/7, which would be Game 3. Thurs 10/3 and Sun 10/6 are travel days

My error. Thanks.
A better scenario, but still a handicap.

The biggest disadvantage is that you would lose that Wild Card Game starter as a bullpen option in Game 5, if they were needed. By pitching your best 2 starters in Games 1 and Games 2, both would be on full rest by Game 5.

You're guaranteed 3 games in the ALDS. Plesac, Civale, or Plutko (fingers crossed on Kluber) is going to have to start one of those games, whether it's Game 2 or Game 3 I do not think it matters all that much. That's just me though, I can see why you or anyone else may disagree though.

Edit- Also, Game 3 is huge game in a 5 game series, although every game pretty much is. You're either looking to finish the series, facing elimination, or looking to tip the balance of the series in your direction.

My best guess would be:

Wild Card - Bieber
Game #1 - Clevinger
Game #2 - Kluber
Game #3 - Plesac/Civale
Game #4 - Bieber
Game #5 - Clevinger

Personally I'd lean towards Clevinger, simply because he has playoff experience whereas Bieber does not. But I'd have full confidence in Bieber.

Regardless, I think that Wild Card starter would pitch again for Game 3. They'd be on full rest, so no reason not to get the pitcher you have the most confidence in getting back out there as soon as he's ready.
