Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes.

This team should make the playoffs in some capacity every season with current makeup.

-Lost Brantley in UFA
-Lost 40 combined starts from Kluber & Carrasco; slack picked up by 2 rookies
-Clevinger missed 8-10 starts in the middle of the season
-Only got 2 good months from your MVP caliber 3B
-MVP caliber SS missed the first 3 weeks of the season
-4 of the 9 Opening Day starters aren't on MLB rosters
-Luplow missed a month
-Naquin, surprisingly one of their most consistent hitters, is out for the year

Credit to the Indians for still being in the hunt, despite limping towards the finish line. Don't think many teams could overcome what they have and still be where they are.

But yes, I'd be disappointed if they don't make it.

Not sure what logic you think I was applying, but that’s fine by me. I’m just saying your post was severely lacking. Seems like you had a bad work experience. I’m sorry to hear that. Might help to vent in OT rather than the Indians thread.

When I posed the question, I thought perhaps I was missing something regarding Salazar’s love for the game as Moz had previously stated.
That’s why I found it funny, but I’m having a hard time finding that post I was referencing. I find it hard to believe I imagined it, but can’t seem to find it anywhere

@Derek i still can’t find the specific post I was thinking of, but I found 2 that hint in that direction
I'm not a big Salazar fan-- he's a guy whose immaturity has kinda led to his downfall.

But, with our pending FA's and OF situation, this offseason is probably as good of a time as any to dip into the pitching well and get a really really good bat (preferably controlled).

Rely on Salazar at your own risk.

People can say he's been unlucky with injuries and all but I believe people make their own luck through a strong work ethic and good habits....

It’s not directly saying his hearts not in the game, but a poor work ethic can be pretty correlated with that

FWIW the guy on the 247 board who tipped the Indians-Reds-Padres trade early has posted several times that I recall that the word around the team is Salazar lacks a strong work ethic. I believe I have read that elsewhere over the years, too. It's something I have come to just take for granted with Salazar, but saying all that it could still be wrong.

Salazar has a ton of talent, so if he wants to try and make a comeback next year on a minor league invite, he will get it with some team without a doubt. Now if the rumors are true will he ever stick in the bigs again, no, but who knows, but maybe this time away will either help him decide he wants to keep playing or he wants to just step away from it altogether. He has to live his life and decide on what’s right for him, so we don’t need to judge or make assumptions about the man since we don’t know him. Let him choose the way he lives his life. He is still a human after all

It's not just a job though; at least not in most cases. It's what they've been passionate about since they were a child. It was their dream come true.

I'm sure in time he'll take solace in the peaks he reached, but for now it's ok to be down, and it's ok to feel bad for him.

This happens to regular people all the time. I have no issue with him being down, and I do feel bad for him. But he's also a millionaire now, so let's not pretend like money doesn't matter. I just refuse to place Salazar on some pedestal above anyone else, especially when he has been so fortunate.

Can we just get back to how we suck and that the season is over?

The injuries have been so ridiculously bad that it's impressive we got this far.

But that's still no excuse for the horrendous bullpen.

That's all we've been talking about. We're in agreement then.

Not entirely surprising when 3 of the 4 teams in your division have losing records.

The Indians have held their own against the current division leaders, going 7-6 vs Minnesota, 4-3 vs Yankees, and 3-4 vs Houston. The Tribe-killers have been Oakland (1-5) and Tampa (1-6).
