Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I feel we need to go for 2020 so I really do not want to trade hand personally so I agree with ya, but sometimes guys can come up and just go straight into the role, but I really don't want to chance it honestly. I feel we can afford to move Bauer for some young/controllable bats and whatnot and still have an effective roster, but we don't have anyone really even as a proven setup man right now, let alone closer. I think the bullpen potential from the minors group has a ton of talent, just if we want to win it all next season, we cannot just move hand.

I agree that I want to compete in 2020. I would not trade Brad Hand.

I love a lot of the prospects in the Padres system, but I’m not sure if they will be buyers this summer.

Why wouldn't they be? They've already pushed their chips in by signing Machado. They have young guys already up and making big contributions, the time is now.

Hand for Frazier. Who says no?

I'd rather hold onto him and deal Bauer.

I'm not sold on the belief that this team won't be competitive next season. Bauer can be replaced with organizational depth. Hand, at present, cannot be.

It would take quite a haul for me to pull the trigger on that deal. Whereas Bauer will be in his final year of Arb with a huge payday coming.

After Trade Deadline:

1. Francisco Lindor- SS
2. Oscar Mercado- CF
3. Carlos Santana- DH
4. Bobby Bradley- 1B
5. Clint Frazier- RF
6. Jose Ramirez- 3B
7. Jason Kipnis- 2B
8. Roberto Perez- C
9. Jake Bauers- LF

What I'd do to have all of that.

Cleveland would say no. Hand will get a much better package than just Frazier. Frazier is a risk in my eyes due to his poor defense, concussion history, and generally bad attitude.
On the other Hand, bullpen arms are more of a crap shoot from year to year and appear in half the games.

Watching you turn on Bobby Bradley is really going to be something.

40% K rate at Triple-A placed right into the cleanup spot in a big league lineup.

They’re currently four games out of the second wild card spot with a negative 36 run differential. Preller planned on contending this season, but it appears that 2020 is probably more realistic.

They need to get out from under Myers and (maybe) Hosmer in a hurry.

If they can do that this summer and continue re-tooling, they're franchise will be in much better shape.

If Jose wasn't hot garbage then we wouldn't even be discussing Bradley in the cleanup spot. Anything is better than Kipnis and his -1.0 WAR in that spot, even a high HR, high K rate.

Would rather have Lindor at 3. Mercado leading off. No way I’d start Bradley in the cleanup spot.

The crap shoot part is definitely true to an extent, but the elite guys typically stay elite. Hand has a track record of 3 years, going on 4. I don't think he's going to shit down his leg with a Dan Otero or Zach McAllister

Look no further than Josh Naylor on San Diego who was killing it in AAA and striking out way less. Granted, I'm more than ready to give Bradley a chance. But like Bauers, Bradley is very young (Naylor too) and I don't expect quite the seamless transition like Mercado.

Naylor- AAA
