AV is a great third big, but this series convinced me that is all he is... as a starter, his energy is a foul magnet.
To blame this series on Z is absurd. Mike Brown, Mo Williams, and Danny Ferry all deserve infinite blame before Z does. If you're honestly counting on Z to be the difference maker, you're stuck in 2005. Z is what he is, deal with it, it's his coaches responsibility to know how to use him.
LOL amare cant guard howard are you joking??
Lol Amare got crossed over by Andy and you think he can actually guard someone?
I quoted the wrong post for this, my apology, meant to quote the guy who said he COULD
I think 47 year old Patrick Ewing could have came off the Magic's bench and gave us more... :chuckles:
God forbid he got killed by the best Center in the NBA. I mean, what do you want him to do? There are like two guys in the NBA that can guard Howard.
I'd rather him come off the bench for 15 min a night. He can still help, but he shouldn't be starting
Plus, at his age, even if he has a good regular season by the time the playoffs hit he's gassed, same thing happened in 07 really.
I want Z coming off the bench but not because he looked bad against Dwight. It's mostly because he is old and very slow. Early in the season he looked like he had some pep to his step. Then he got hurt and lost the pep. As the season went on you could tell he just lost any little bit of quickness he had early in the season and didnt look like he was going to regain it. The fact of the matter is the bigs in todays game are just too fast, quick, strong and athletic for Z to play against for a full 82 game season and the playoffs. Him coming off the bench and playing against the opponents 2nd string bigs is where Z should thrive in.
The one big that i really want to see in a Cavs uni next season and is realistic is Tyson Chandler. Very athletic and the type of interior defender we need. Not a good offensive player and needs to be along side a PF that has an offensive game but bring in Tyson to start constructing a very good and young frontcourt is a great start.
