Zydrunas Illgauskas...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
AV is a great third big, but this series convinced me that is all he is... as a starter, his energy is a foul magnet.

We needed him to be aggressive on D. The hope was that he wouldn't get caught.

Andy only fouled out of 2 of the 42 games he started this season.

To blame this series on Z is absurd. Mike Brown, Mo Williams, and Danny Ferry all deserve infinite blame before Z does. If you're honestly counting on Z to be the difference maker, you're stuck in 2005. Z is what he is, deal with it, it's his coaches responsibility to know how to use him.

Nowhere did I ever blame this series on Z, never. I think you guys are making it seem like I have no respect for Z and I hate the guy, and that is completely false. But when your career as a starter and a difference maker at center is over, yes I will call him out. I think we need a fresh starting center on this team, and you can blame that on Ferry. But never, did I ever, blame the series on Z.

I think 47 year old Patrick Ewing could have came off the Magic's bench and gave us more... :chuckles:

Lol Amare got crossed over by Andy and you think he can actually guard someone?

I quoted the wrong post for this, my apology, meant to quote the guy who said he COULD

Lol I meant Amare CANNOT guard Dwight

Yeah he probably coulda got dwight to take an endorsement deal with snickers instead of dunk on us every play of the entire series

God forbid he got killed by the best Center in the NBA. I mean, what do you want him to do? There are like two guys in the NBA that can guard Howard.

Yeah, one of them was the feared defensive stopper Kendrick Perkins........

Dwight isn't very good on the offensive end, he becomes unstoppable when you have a glacier guarding him for 25 minutes a game.

For the people saying Amare cannot guard Howard you need to re-think that, Dwight has never beaten an Amare led team he's 0-7.

Vs Amare

52% from the field
16ppg
12rpg

Amare averages 18ppg, 9rpg vs Dwight.

When they play Amare brings his best defensive efforts, he plays with a chip on his shoulder when he faces Dwight. Unlike Chris Bosh, Amare has had some of the best games in his career against the best teams and best bigs.

You can also add Tyson Chandler to the list of guys that can guard Dwight, against Tyson Dwight averages 14ppg and 14rpg.

Z actually had a decent series, all things considered. He led the team in plus/minus at +22, led the team in rebounds with 9.33/g and 56 reb in the series. He only had 1 turnover the entire series long. He could have shot better in the series, but he stil shot 44.64% which isn't all that bad considering he plays away from the basket.

Andy was a +21.

Meanwhile Ben Wallace was a freakin' -61 with 12 total points in the series, and 1 block.

Wally was a -35 in limited minutes, with a whopping 21.43% shooting pct. Seven points in 62 minutes. What a total failure, not only by Wally, but by MB for even playing him for 62 minutes at all.

But I digress -- if Z had to play alongside Ben Wallace who was a -61 in about a third of Z's minutes, but Z was +22, I'd have to say the problem in our frontcourt isn't Z.

I'd rather him come off the bench for 15 min a night. He can still help, but he shouldn't be starting

Plus, at his age, even if he has a good regular season by the time the playoffs hit he's gassed, same thing happened in 07 really.

I think that you are exactly right about that. Z is good for about 20 mins a game. With a half dozen surgeries and being well into his 30s, Z shouldn't be expected to start anymore.

I want Z coming off the bench but not because he looked bad against Dwight. It's mostly because he is old and very slow. Early in the season he looked like he had some pep to his step. Then he got hurt and lost the pep. As the season went on you could tell he just lost any little bit of quickness he had early in the season and didnt look like he was going to regain it. The fact of the matter is the bigs in todays game are just too fast, quick, strong and athletic for Z to play against for a full 82 game season and the playoffs. Him coming off the bench and playing against the opponents 2nd string bigs is where Z should thrive in.

The one big that i really want to see in a Cavs uni next season and is realistic is Tyson Chandler. Very athletic and the type of interior defender we need. Not a good offensive player and needs to be along side a PF that has an offensive game but bring in Tyson to start constructing a very good and young frontcourt is a great start.

couldnt of said it better..

Z killed us with the pick and roll.. to get howard covered u need a athletic Big. mean z is 7'3 and hooward shot over him with ease all series long..

What was Dwight Howards? +-

Z was terrible this series. I don't care what the +- says. Boston single covered him basically the entire series and they almost won without KG and Powe. And Ray Allen sucked the entire series.

The sad part was he would have been worse against the Lakers.

Yeah Z is a great guy but he ain't a championship guy they need in the middle of the court. If you didn't see that, then Im not sure what to say. Just watch the first haf of Saturday's game...Sht even Ben Wallace scored more than he did.

Anyone remember me???!!! I was the one who said 3 or 4 years ago that the Cavs would NEVER win a championship as long as Z was the Cavs starting center! People bashed me and whined how great Z was and he was a top 3 center but unfortunately as everyone can see I was right and I really really wanna rub it in but it bothers me as much as anyone to see my favorite team fail and If somehow Z coulda been the starting center for a championship team in Cleveland I'd of been the 1st to say how wrong I was because I'd of been happy saying we were champs! Sadly this will never happen and now many others can see what I always saw!
Hopefully people didn't see it too late where we end up losing LeBron.
