Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's called being a man, grown up & a professional athlete. You are no longer a kid in college where people adore you and you can come to the games hungover/buzzed and just say, "Well, we got the dubya, amirite?!"

You need to take actions for whatever negative thing you have done and own up to it. You see it all the time with athletes with drugs, domestic abuse, offensive language, other crimes...

Fans, players and friends/family are looking up to you and some care for your well-being, just show you can change on & off the field.

You are pretty much a star, you can not hide behind your PR team and scripted letters forever.
You mean checking into rehab for a few months, moving out of downtown, consistently being talked about by teammates for how much his character has improved means nothing? I think his actions show that he is "growing up" or being a "man". All I've heard is "actions speak louder than words. I'll believe it when I see it." when it comes to his character all over this site. Now all of the sudden actions aren't good enough and we want words? Let's not forget the constant rumors being spread on here that he is drinking. Like its some super secret and everyone at Townhall or Shaq's party wouldn't have seen it and talked about it. You all just want something to bitch about and your post shows me that.

Once again, he doesn't owe you or I shit.

His actions thus far have been good as you outlined. The drinking rumors seem to be unsubstantiated which is good.

Still, you can't dodge the media when things are bad for you but accept them when things are good. It doesn't work that way. Like it or not, he's a public figure and the public wants to hear from him.

I would think he'd want the presser out of the way before OTAs started because its just another distraction now.

A presser to do what? he hasnt done anything.
im really not sure what Manziel would have to say right now. he is a 2nd year 2nd string quartervack trying to earn his way into the NFL.

Don't be naive. He's not just a 2nd year backup QB. He's an all pro hype machine who has fallen on hard times. The public demands information about him yet he refuses to face his fans.

The fans and media want answers from him and until he addresses it, it will hang over his head and be a distraction from football forever. Eventually he's going to answer questions whether he wants to or not. I would think he'd want to do it and be done so he can focus on football.

I also thought it was comical that people here will just try and pretend he's just a regular ol' guy now.

No persona or mass media following.

That said, I don't think he should be in front of the camera either. He's got nothing to say that's of any importance to the Cleveland Browns as a team.

If he wants to come clean and do all this, the Browns will set up him with some sort of E60 type thing that makes it a personal piece (Torn Porn, if you will).

They aren't going to do it with the Browns logo and sponsor as the backdrop.

They (hopefully) learned that lesson.

We got Ja Rule on the phone. Lets see what Ja's thoughts are on Johnny....

Jesus...I don't usually disagree with you, but I do here.

Yes, actions speak louder than words. Good for him for moving out and "checking himself" into rehab. I can't speak for everyone, but when I have said actions speak louder than words, yes, I meant not getting blackout every time you drink, being more 'professional' in your daily life, but I mainly meant on the FIELD. His play was awful besides 1 drive. Go out and drink and have some fun, if you can come out every Sunday and put the team in contention to win every game.

Who really gives a shit about rumors on "RBF" about him drinking at a bar. As far as I know, the people who said so heard from a friend of a friend from a cell phone. No proof. That story doesn't mean shit.

And please don't spew that "You all just want something to bitch about..." Leave that shit in Cavs Talk to the new fuckers. As far as I can see, only a few people have really bitched about stuff and that was b00b (no offense) and some of the guys that rarely come in here. Even for a guy like Johnny, it's tough seeing a guy completely waste his rookie season on drinking/partying when he is on YOUR team. As I said before, I will continue to root for him as long as he is wearing the Orange & Brown. It would be dumb not to. Once he is gone, go ahead and rip him to shreds.

Sorry your girlfriend ended up buying you Kroger brand ranch instead of Hidden Valley, that would piss me off too. But don't say "all of us are bitching." He does owe us shit. He owes the fan base and his team his dedication and some fucking heart.

No hard feelings. Go buy real ranch.

And I don't disagree with any of that, but it has nothing to do with him "being a man" and getting in front of a camera and talking about his personal life.

PS- I don't like ranch ;)

Ya. Just heard on the radio that faith in Johnny being completely straight-edge is dwindling. Apparently, he was at that Shaq party and people are saying he was drinking... Again..

It won't go away until he talks about it.

Well, I don't think pundits and fans talking about it has any real impact, and I certainly don't see that as a rationale for him to go completely public with the details of his recovery program. Never heard of anyone doing that, tbh

What does matter is if the coaches are aware of his situation, and whether they're comfortable with how he's handling.

What we fans and the media chat about shouldn't matter.

Who said anything about going completely public about the details of his recovery program? I'm just asking him to acknowledge he went to the program because his life was getting out of hand. He's taking steps to improve himself personally and professionally. He's working hard every day to earn the trust of his teammates and coaches, etc.

I don't need to hear the gory details, I just want him to step up and stop ducking media availability. Get it out, move on and focus on football.

I tend to agree more with @Pick6 on this one. I just want him to put in the work necessary to be a starting QB in this league. I don't need him to explain himself or address anything because at the end of the day, talk is talk.

So what? Let the public get it's TMZ fix somewhere else.

I would think he'd want the presser out of the way before OTAs started because its just another distraction now.

A distraction for who, exactly? Is there any evidence that the fangasm over this issue is actually affecting him or the team? Or is it just "Inquiring minds want to know!"
