2012 Cavs Summer League

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
TT is the player I am most excited about. I would like to see a semblance of an offensive game and a built up frame from him.

Byron's recent interview where he said TT's jump shot has been tweaked and is progressing rapidly got me stoked. If he's been hitting the gym he could be poised for a surprisingly good season for us.

Also from Bowers in response to folks asking him about Tristan's game (charity basketball game this afternoon in Columbus):

His jumper's looking good, knocked down a few. Couple moves off the dribble too.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I still don't see TT developing a consistent jumper that he can use in game, but if he does it changes everything going forward.

I'll be expecting sky hooks and dream shakes when Summer League rolls by. Don't disappoint TT!

Hey, Ben Wallace couldn't hit one for the life of him, and he turned out JUST fine.

What TT has going for him is this:

  1. Athleticism
  2. Hard Work (which could produce skills and muscle)
  3. Length
  4. Intelligence
  5. Hustle and Energy

Ben had all of that too and Andy has 4 of them. I'd say if he reaches his full potential, he can grab 10-15 rebounds and block 2-5 shots. He has manages to ever correct his jumper, he can get 10-15 points. Perfect it with any semblance of post game and you have 15-18 points. I'd say he's at least in the neighborhood of Andy's production, just without the injuries. 10-12-2. But I could see in 2 years of 12-15-5 if he worked REAL hard. Maybe a few less rebounds and blocks, but still close to that.

Can't wait to see an improved TT. If it's not looking great and he's too focused, he'll keep working with our staff all summer long. Can't wait. :hehe:

15 rebounds

5 Blocks

You've never seen Wallace in his prime, have you? I'm not saying he will achieve that. It's a best case scenario. If I were more realistic, it would be 10-13-3. Happy?

It was a joke.
And I'm not questioning the abilities of Wallace in his prime here lol.

Well, there's a better than 50% chance that Thompson becomes the next Wallace. He just needs a nastier streak, iron muscle training, and strength. If he can hit 2 of 3, he has a greater than 75% chance. Got to like your odds, right?

Wallace hit the free weights harder than anyone in the NBA. He definitely went for size and strength, focusing on lower rep ranges than the average NBA player. It'll be very difficult for TT to have a body like Wallace's.

Seemed like most opposing coaches loved Thompson and thinks the Cavs have a future star in him. I don't see how you could possibly think he can't improve in every aspect of his game. I mean, he's only played one abbreviated season without any off-season instruction from the Cavs personnel. So you may not see Thompson developing further but i expect him to rapidly and i'm sure the Cavs do too.

TT will never look like Wallace. That's just ridiculous. But, it also doesn't matter. He's a different player. He's better in some aspects already than Ben ever was, and will most likely never be as good as Ben in others. He has the potential to be a good to very good defender. I disagree with people who say he has explosiveness. To me, his fellow draftee Kenneth Faried, is far more explosive. Shawn Kemp was ultra explosive. TT is above average, but he's not either of those guys athletically. I think his offensive ceiling is higher than Ben and Faried, though. Iit will be up to him to get there, and by the sounds of it, he's doing all the right things to achieve just that(a huge reason why CG liked him at 4 is that work ethic and drive to be better).
