2012 NBA Free Agents

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I want to make the playoffs but at the same time I feel like we are one more high pick away from being where we want be in the future. Now if the cavs have the chance to get that pick this year then go all in and do it and let's get going.

If we can pin the correct pick with both 1sts (whether we trade up with our back-to-back 2nds and #24 pick) to get back into the lottery picks...I'd say we would be where we want to be for the future. But not seeing that as likely. Whether its Beal, Kidd-Gilchrist, Drummond or Barnes for our pick in the top 6 and then someone like Fab Melo (not likely) or Quincy Miller at #24..I'd be stoked.

While looking at mock drafts...whomever we get for our first pick..its going to look pretty, so many options..we can't go wrong with our pick!

We can and we may. But let's see where the balls drop. Our front office is on a draft quality roll, but if you forget the number ones (which you might say were obvious), there is not a lot of experience in picking lottery. TT is the only one in the Gilbert organization era, and while I am happy with that pick, it is arguable. We could have for example traded the pick to Denver for 22 ( fareid) and Javale McGee, and resigned JJ. That team would likely have made the playoffs this year, and I could argue would be as good a young core as whatever comes from this year's draft. Hind sight is 20/20 so I am not suggesting the FO screwed up, just that the jury is out on the TT pick. Anyway, a reminder of pick history...

Post James

2004. Luke Jackson 10 overall.
2005 None
2006 Shannon Brown (25), Boobie (42), and the Nigerian MVP(55)
2007 None
2008 JJ (19)
2009 Kid Congo (30) Danny Green (46)
2010 none
2011 KI, TT (4), Harper (32), MAcVan (54)

Luke was a bust.

Brown was part of the trade that dumped Hughes, Marshall, Newble, and drew golden, for Wally, Big Ben, Joe Smith, Delonte and the pick that would be Danny Green. Green was waived eventually. I think the Brown pick was above average value to the team.

Boobie was a solid pickup for a round two.

JJ became Omri Casspi and the Sactown pick. Omri is definitely not the value of JJ or a 19 over all, but the Sactown pick could prove to be a 19 overall, so jury out but probably a good use of the pick.

Eyenga was filler in the Ramone for lakers pick trade. In my view Eyenga was a bust.

Kyrie and TT so far are solid.

I definitely would not have wanted to make the playoffs or resign JJ this past season. It's also hard to say that we should've picked Faried. Don't forget that 21 other teams passed on him just like 29 teams passed on Isaiah Thomas twice while even the Kings passed him up for Jimmer who didn't exactly dazzle last season. We've been making solid moves these past two seasons regardless of what we did before LeBron left.

It's hard to say what free agents, if any, we'd go after until after the draft.

But my interest list looks like this:

UFA

Ersan Ilyasova
Chris Kaman
Spencer Hawes
Grant Hill
Nick Young
Andre Miller
Jeff Green

RFA

Roy Hibbert
Eric Gordon
Brook Lopez
Nicholas Batum
O.J. Mayo
Brandon Rush

My apologies in advance for any inaccuracies This is a collection condensed list of player in their twenties with age and per included. by position.

I left out poing guards and power forwards. I forgot to label the first two columns so it was not intended to highlight the lead per guys. once again unrestricted guys with * are restricted free agents not on rookie scale

so of these my favorites would be

Alonzo Gee -Restricted
Danny Green- Restricted
Gerald Green- Unrestricted
Rudy Fernandez - restricted
Chris Wright - RFA
Steve Novak - Unrestricted.
Hamed Hadedi - unrestricted

Havent really looked at the older players.

We can offer big money to Hibbert or some other rfa since we can afford to wait out on other team matching it or not. If they match we can just do nothing since we are not in real need of #something# (James era...)

You guys think it's about time to just apologize to Danny Green and give him the money he deserves?

I don't know how much good Pop has ingrained in him, and if Green would even consider going to a bad team after a taste of greatness and a possible ring, but it's worth a shot.

Hibbert, Gordon, and Lopez are all staying put. Anyone else (outside of Mayo), wouldn't be worth a significant contract. I'd rather use the cap to acquire players in a trade.

Only guy I want on that list is Ersan Ilayasova. That dude is a great player. He gets boards and shoots with good efficiency.

On the flip side, if you want to see a mans "competition" see Luke Harangody vs Milan Macvan 2013. Most beers drank after one week wins.

Winner: Macvan euro blood/alcohol tolerance prevails over Harangody's 'south bend nights'
