One name that comes to mind is Memphis Grizzlies reserve center Kosta Koufos.
With Marc Gasol healthy, Koufos becomes expendable and with a first-round pick as
bait, the Grizzlies could part ways with the big man.

I would like it. Koufos is still very young. He was a solid starting center for Denver in the 12-13 season, averaging 8 points, 7 rebounds and 1,3 blocks in only 22 minutes.
Love, TT, Marion // AV, Koufos would make a very balanced front court rotation, imo.

There's still the possibility he does. More importantly, what's to stop him from doing so next summer? That $10 million isn't guaranteed.

According to the CBA:

There's nothing binding about a player announcing his retirement. The player can still sign a new contract and continue playing (if he's not under contract), or return to his team (if he is still under contract) and resume his career.

What I quoted only applies if Haywood doesn't want to quit the Cavs. Below the quote in this link to the cbafaq you can read more about that. Him quitting might not be an issue considering FSO is reporting the Cavs think he has something left in the tank.

12. Finally, the Cavs feel center Brendan Haywood may have a little something left in the tank. At 7-feet tall, Haywood has the size the Cavs want. His expiring contract next year is also viewed as a huge asset. Haywood's deal enables the Cavs to take back $15 million in a trade and teams have asked about him. Haywood, 34, missed all of last season in Charlotte with a foot injury.

Gasol missed a lot of games last year so they need a decent backup. Koufos has an expiring contract. that makes it kinda tough to give up a first round pick for him but that's probably what it would take to pry him away from Memphis.

I really don't even think this past month has hit me yet. Just surreal. Can't wait for opening night.

Yeah Memphis really has no reason to give him up. We're going to have to overpay. And I'm not sure you do that for Koufos. I'm willing to offer a decent chunk for Mozgov though.

Although we did get a 1st rounder, Speights, etc from Memphis for Jon Leuer. :chuckles:

It's not only a 1st rounder, it was a likely lottery pick in addition to some decent role players. That trade seems so absurd looking back. It's amazing what some teams will do just to avoid paying luxury tax.

what do the Jazz contracts add up to right now?.. have to think those plus a 1st and possibly Harris or Powell if signed could get it done for Moz... Jermaine O'Neal to me seems the most likely.. he played well last year about 20 min a game for GS

Re: 2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion (Marion watch)

Jeremy Tyler is about to be released after getting traded to Sacramento....

I remember when he used to excite me.

Re: 2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion (Marion watch)

I've seen mentioned on a few different message boards that Love and Koufos really dislike each other. There was no elaboration as to why. Anyone have the backstory? I assume there is something to it, or at least there was, given I saw it mentioned in different places. Just curious if it was off court or just some on court incident.
