2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion

Re: 2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion (Marion watch)

Time to open up the rim-protector debate...Who can we afford, who can we move...this, IMO, is the last piece to the championship puzzle if we land Marion...and please don't suggest Larry Sanders.

Mozgov!!!

Re: 2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion (Marion watch)

Mozgov: makes about 4.5 per year. More affordable. Nuggets do have a log-jam at center with Nurik in the mix. Question is, looking at their roster, who would we move?

I am going to go out on a limb and say TT is untouchable, at least this year. Everything i have seen suggests him and Lebron are the tightest players on the team as it stands.

Someone have that chart of rim protectors that shows DeAndre Jordan as some kind of Mutumbo? Can't seem to find it...

Yeah this is the only thing I don't have a clue what we would have to give up to get him.

He would would also lose around $8 million that Mark Cuban is paying him. It's the part of the salary that was amnesty paid for by Dallas

I thought about that too, but, wasn't sure how everything works. I just don't see any way he retires this year. Nor, do I think he considers it until his contract is renounced next year. There are some things that people just don't do, like giving away free money that doesn't require any more effort then sitting on your ass for a year or so.

plus TT is a better player Mozgov can guard the paint but is all he can do. Andy is going to start and TT will be his backup

Mozgov, Henson, and Okafor are three names mentioned on here. Any other guys that are on teams with multiple Centers on their teams that could be had in a trade?

DeAndre Jordan is a UFA next summer it would be awesome if we could work out a sign & trade with the Clippers for him.

We wouldn't have the money for him this year, would we? Would we use Haywood's contract next year to help pick him up?

Man he would be perfect on this team. Not going to happen IMO though.

Assuming, Allen signs on:

SF James, Miller, Jones
PF Love, Marion
C Varejao, Thompson, Haywood
PG Irving, Dellavadova
SG Waiters, Allen, Harris

2 spots, rumored E'Tuan Moore as the 3rd PG and Rim protecting center. Protect Powell's rights by sending him overseas?

I'm not sure we could. If it puts us over the luxury cap by 4 million or more it's not possible through a S&T. With Kyrie, Love, and Lebron getting max deals for next year it makes things difficult cap-wise, Jordan would have to take a pay cut to come here I guess? We'll cross this bridge when we get there.

Re: 2014 Free Agency Period: News and Discussion (Marion watch)

My guess, and it's only my guess, the Cavs at the trading deadline find a team that wants to dump payroll, and swap the Haywood contract, and the Utah guys (if there're still around) for the needed center.
