#24: Tyus Jones - PG - Duke University (Traded to T'Wolves for #31 & #36)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
His alleged lack of foot speed is a height equivalent. Lack of foot speed is why Kyrie is such a terrible player, as we all know.

What?!?!?

And Kyrie has a lack of foot-speed? Whoever has ever said that has clearly not watched the guy. Dude has one of the quickest first steps in the world. Plus, as I mentioned early in this post which I am guessing you forgot, when you are a world class ball-handler, athleticism means nothing to you...are you willing to go out on a limb and say Jones is a world class ball-handler like Kyrie?

You may have heard leading up to the draft that Kyrie "isn't the athlete John Wall is" and assumed thats what that meant. Well, there is a difference between world class athlete at the PG position (Wall, Westbrook), adequate athleticism (Kyrie, CP3), and poor athleticism (Marshall, Jones).

We need a back up pg, we have 3rd in delly, a rookie with only 1 year of college will not properly fill that role on a contending team.

Now go home, a hear some one screaming Beatle Juice, Beatle Juice, Beatle Juice.

Yeah, umm, thank god the Cavs didn't make the stupid move of drafting a rookie with only 1 year of college...

Footspeed equals Height?

So Manute Bol is the fastest mother fucker that ever played in the NBA?

We might not understand metrics, but you must have flunked physics.

I have no clue how some idiot married Jones to Marshall in terms of skill. It's like comparing Tyson Chandler and Zach Randolph, and, frankly, discredits whatever idiot proposes it as a comparison.

Yeah man. Taller = longer legs = longer strides = increased 40 times. That's how it works, right?

The year after Lebron left with time to develop him.

Wow, you really don't understand how this works do you?

I will say it slow so you can understand.

WE DO NOT HAVE TIME TO DEVELOP SOMEONE LIKE WE DID WITH TRISTAN OR KYRIE. WE MUST FIND A BACKUP PG WHO HAS PROVEN HE CAN PLAY AT THE PRO LEVEL EVEN IF THAT MEANS HE HAS LESS UPSIDE THAN A GUY LIKE TYUS.

Yeah, go show me anywhere where I have compared Jones' skills to Marshall's skills. I am comparing their lack of God given athleticism that it takes to make it in the NBA long term...plain and simple.

Yeah, that's how I got into med school...

The point is that taking an isolated physical attribute as an absolute marker of likelihood of success is absurdity.

Is this the part where we all pretend that the Cavs actually developed Kyrie?

No, playing in the NBA developed Kyrie.

Something Tyus will not have done yet.

Are you being stupid and ignoring the point on purpose? Are you a troll?

I am not saying Tyus has no chance at being a good NBA player, I am saying it will take time. This is a fact for all NBA players.

I am then saying the Cavs right now don't have the time to develop the backup pg. Even if we kept the pick, it doesn't mean we don't need yet another backup pg as next year the best Tyus could have hoped for on the Cavs is a 3rd pg to replace Delly who really doesn't fit the backup pg duties when he had to play extended minutes or handle true pg duties offensively.

Why are you guys still feeding the troll? If we shut up he will go to the Wolves board and praise him there. Or he could go to my thread about the... Nevermind.

Plus Rookie kyrie got to lay big minutes on a bad Cavs team from day one, something further Tyus would not have the luxury of doing.

As a premed or medical student, you should understand the effects on your body of sniffing glue.

I'll leave with this, @We'reAllKyrieWitnesses

It doesn't matter how skilled Tyus Jones may be on the offensive side of the ball...I have nothing against the guy by any means...he is a great P&R player, can shoot it a bit, was coached by one of the best on how to run a team...but if you can't stop the other guy on the other side of the ball, you aren't going to make it, and if you do, you are going to be shipped around quite a bit (hence the Kendall Marshall likeness I keep going back to). Tyus Jones is going to struggle big time defending the other PGs in this league. Westbrook, Curry, CP3, Lilliard, Conley, Lawson, Bledsoe, Knight, Parker...you think he is going to be able to hang with those guys on the defensive side of the ball out West? I just don't see it.

To the bolded -- that is NOT a fact for all NBA players. Some have skill, poise, and intellect.

And, just as importantly, having a PG with offensive skills as a BACKUP provides a particular freedom, esp when the 2nd team lacks such offensive skill.

I'm still not entirely clear as to why folks think that having a PG w/ offensive skills who can distribute is a negative for a team that obviously struggled immensely on offense with Kyrie out of the game.

As for your 2nd paragraph, I'm neither. Been a physician for 20 years, and a basketball player for 40. And coached 3 kids who have now played in the NBA.
