Andrew Wiggins

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He likely never would have developed like that on this team. He wouldn't have gotten the time nor the opportunity to go through the growing pains he has this year. And that is coming from someone who was beyond excited when they drafted him instead of Parker.

Happy to see him doing well, as he seems like a good kid and definitely has star potential. I wonder how much better off that team would be this year if they were healthy, but lose out and get one more draft pick, I suppose. They aren't far from being a fringe playoff team when healthy.

Andrew Wiggins cracks the 20 point barrier.... yet again. This seems to be a consistent theme lately. The jumpers, the floaters, the drives, the nice post-game that has surprised and continues to surprise people is there and it all looks good. The Wolves fans are very happy with Wiggins right now.

If you guys have NBA League Pass, whenever Cleveland isn't playing, take a look at the Timberwolves. Maybe Wiggins' scoring is up a tad since he is on a bad team. But on a good team, I think his scoring would be down a tad but he would be more efficient and focus on defense even more. So he'd still be good on a better team right now.

Griffin got hosed in nearly every deal this past summer. I was fine with his overall plan. Just feel like he gave up way more than he had to in each deal. It's almost like he didn't even try to reach a compromise. He completely gave in to the demands of Flip, Ainge, etc. If we could have found a way to give up Dion instead of Wiggins or keep Zeller or Karasev or some of the first rounders we gave away, I'd feel better.

Wiggins is a complete stud. Kid's gonna be a star.

I like Wiggins too, but they'd do the same thing again in a heartbeat. No team passes on Kevin Love to pair with LBJ and irving. It was and is a no-brainer.

Like I said. I agreed with the goals. But no team was beating our offer once Wiggins was put on the table. It was stupid to have to throw in Bennett and that Miami first, as well. The other trade we gave up way too much in was the Boston-Nets trade where we have away so many assets just to shed Jack's 6 million/yr contract. I just think Griffin could have done a better job without completely giving in to other teams' demands.

The only reason that I'd still do the trade, in hindsight, is because of LeBron James' condition. He's showing wear, and we need to be in win now mode. I was Wiggins' biggest supporter on the board - I wanted to draft him ahead of Embiid - but even I thought it would take 2-4 years for him to play at an All-Star level (which is what we would need to compete for a championship).

Personally, I had hoped that we could've kept Wiggins and traded a combination of Andy, Waiters, Thompson, and Bennett to get the help we needed.

But LBJ saw it differently.

Don't worry, there are still guys on this board who will come out of the woodwork as soon as Wiggins has a bad game and say "See?"
Uh, you don't undertand, through the first 20 games of his NBA career he was the worst regularin the NBA though... :chuckle:

I like Wiggins and think he's going to be good. I really wish we could have kept him and I wanted him #1 overall. He is looking decent lately, but man some of you are going way overboard.

Sometimes I wonder, would we really be any worse having kept Bennett and Wiggins over Love? Doubtful. But our ceiling as a team would be far lower short-term, too.

All we can do is wait and see how everything plays.

Seems like yesterday we were watching his highlight videos comparing his game from Parker and going crazy over this pic

Kevin Love can't do that :chuckle:

I could do that no problem ..... if you glued the back of my hand to the ceiling joist.

I like Wiggins, but I still feel he's going to be fundamentally limited to certain roles until he learns to change direction when dribbling.
