Andrew Wiggins

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

I haven't seen a handle from a Cavs guard as bad as Wiggins since the Boobie and Shannon Brown days. It's so bad. He has shown so much defensive potential, but man, I am not seeing at all on the offensive side of the ball.

He is VERY lucky that he will be the 4th ballhandler on this team. If he was asked to be a #1 scoring option right now, I think it's a guarantee he'd fail massively in that role.

Come on you have an anti-Wiggins, pro-Love agenda. His ballhandling is not that bad and he just had an amazing 20 free throw attempts in one game as the go to scorer on that summer league team.

His ballhandling is horrible.

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

His handle is certainly bad. I think everyone knows that it has been discussed ad-nauseum.

Playing with LBJ would alleviate some of the issues that causes, he would rarely be seen trying to create with the ball. You would see him in spot-up 1 or 2 dribble drive positions, and in transition using his athletic ability to finish. Defensively he can contribute day 1.

His handles are likely to improve and I expect them to tighten up significantly over the next two years, I am not sure that I ever see him as a ball dominant 2 or 3 that can create for himself and others, but its far too early to tell.

Bottom line he can contribute day one, but we have to have realistic expectations. This isn't an 18 year old Lebron clone.

Couldn't watch Wiggy tonight and it seems everyone is complaining about his handles...How did he get his 21 points tonight? Curious who watched it and how he looked, from a bipartisan perspective.

I saw the chase-down block highlight and still see so much potential in this kid. Everyone can rip his handles but if he stays, i guarantee we will be raving about him on the defensive end by midseason.

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

It's a pretty interesting situation that whether this kid is packaged in a trade for Kevin Love or not is 100% based on the whims of LeBron James. If LeBron thinks what this kid provides is too valuable for the future, he's going nowhere. There's never been a case before where another player can literally dictate where the first overall draft pick plays the first several years of his career.

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

Wiggins handles need work, but they are far from horrible. He got fouled on a strip (no call) and the Wiggins haters are making a big deal of it. Yet, he had many drives where either scored or was fouled, but I guess those don't count.

Coming into the league, LeBron's handles were not great, still are not great, but he overcompensated with a stiff arm that he will teach Wiggins.

Let's put it this way, the handles of a 19 year old rookie Wiggins are not nearly as bad as Kevin Love's defense.

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

I mean, Wiggins will be like the 4th ball handler on the team. His weakness are covered by our strengths and his strengths help our weaknesses.

LeBron's handles aren't great? Whaaaat???? Compared to who, point guards? Please name me some current SF's with a better handle than LeBron James. That is an insane statement.

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

The kid just drools with his ability. It isn't in 1 or 2 areas, but the whole package. You don't trade that.

He's not going anywhere, rumors from Minnesota's camp to the contrary. This kid is going to be a star by the second half of the season.

He's very quick so even if he can't dribble that well, he gets into positions where teams have to fouls (off the ball, offensive glass, etc.). Really a lot of guys can jump high but his quickness is elite as well which is rare.

Very good game overall: negative was that Canaan got the better of him down the stretch. Had a blow by with Wiggins on him for a layup and then stripped him to finish off the game.

I thought the strip was a foul since short-armed Canaan reached in front of him from Wiggins' left and tapped the ball out of Wiggins' right hand. Don't see how he could do that without fouling and I saw contact. For what it's worth, Canaan is four years older than Wiggins and had a full year of "NBA" in him.
